Simpsons, Angela Anaconda, Pop Idol, Fame Academy (big bet on Alex @ 6/4 will pay out handsomely), reruns of The Office, the 118-118 adverts

These are a few of my favourite things... :shootself

Totally disagree with your total disagreement Beach Hut- Pop Idol performs a public service to (OK a wee bit cruelly, has to be said) by popping the pop aspirations of losers. Just a shame Steps, Atomic Kitten or Daniel Bedingfield never had both barrels turned on 'em early in their careers - the radio would be a far far better place aye?

Agree with you about Fame Academy mind, apart from as a betting medium

Tom I take it that Pop Idol and Fame academy is tongue-in-cheek!

Have to confess that I don't know what Angela Anaconda is?

Buzza - you haven't lived mate! Here's the blessed Angela in all her glory. Flick thru the channels at six in the morning and tune in to a real treat. Channel 4 & E4 also.

Oh, yes & big mention to Malcolm In The Middle also. Total total quality

Pop Idol would be OK if people went on the spot and were slated for their singing - and it went no further. At the end of it you know the winner will be another cheesy manufactured act which can't sing - which sort of defeats the object.

Have 'em up, tell 'em they're all shite then tell 'em to piss off.
The show would be much more entertaining. I'd watch it.

No-one's mentioned Six Feet Under - quality programme.

And Will and Grace can be funny (although not quite as funny as it thinks it is).

Why are the decent programmes American - have we forgotten how to make good TV over here? And what does it tell us about public taste that the schedules are filled up with property/home decor programmes, soap operas and reality TV?

I'm old enough to remember when TV made original drama - the Wednesday evening Play for Today was compulsive viewing - and showed a great selection of films. Now we get bloody Titanic clogging up BBC1 for two and a half hours. Grrrrrr.
