[Help] TV antenna help please!

I realise this is very basic stuff, but I’m struggling.

Got a nice new Fire TV for a bargain from Amazon. The problem is the TV antenna cable doesn’t fit in this one, like it did in our very old Panasonic plasma TV.

The problem seems to be that while the cable is male, and the port is female, they’re the same size and simply won’t fit.

The screwy bit on the antenna cable is firmly attached and doesn’t screw off, nor come off with pliers and appears to have been attached with the strength of Thor. This seems to be by design.

Anyway, no idea what to do now to make pornography come on my telly, any advice appreciated

Buy a slide on connector, cut the old one off and refit? It’s only a spike and loose wires in the cable isn’t it. Sorry I don’t know the correct terminology as I am no tv technician. Someone who knows what they are talking about will probably be along soon

Just climb on the roof during a storm with a stuffed bird puppet on your arm - quick adjustment should make it all work. What could go wrong ?

On the other hand, does the coax cable come direct from the ariel or is the ariel lead terminated in a box on the wall indoors ? If the later then I'd just buy a new cable from the box to the TV (most come with converters around the male female bit. Loads on Amazon for less than a tenner.
