Millions of TV viewers will see the pavements of Leeds full of spectators with knotted handkerchiefs and flat caps , carrying a whippet under their arm. I understand Eurosport are going to provide subtitles in English.

Here's a photograph taken this morning of a Leeds person in training.

How would it work in Edinburgh? Would they literally cycle the entire length of the UK?

No , they would only use it for the opening and possibly next stage , afterwards everything is shipped over to France and the following day's stage starts somewhere in France.

I hope they choose a good route through the dales or the North York Moors etc. I'd much rather go and watch there. Looking forward to it already!

I watch the tour hit Ditchling the actual bike race was over in a flash they raced up Ditchling Beacon and everyone disappeared but the atmosphere was building for 5 hours before they arrived which everyone seemed to enjoy and then it was over in a flash.

They wouldn't have got out of the big ring, on either.

I'm not sure what that means. But watching the clips, I was amazed the guy at the front didn't get any help AT ALL from the pontoon, who didn't seem to do much of anything other than finish together. The fashion conscious bloke with the snazzy yellow jumper wasn't too prominent either, must have been before the times when wearing it was considered a bit good.

Ps this is clearly not a true Leeds person - his knuckles would be dragging if it was..!

Definate Yorkie knuckledragger, hence the large wheeel in order to negate the problem.

It should be excellent. I'm really looking forward to someone running out of the crowd and lamping the race leader.

I loved the old theme tune! Don't remember there being no speed limit between brighton and woodingdean. Would love it to come here again.
