Can't you just go online a request a PAC number. Once you've got that it's simple to migrate.6 one hour calls with O2 trying to get a phone number migrated for my son to new iPhone lives in my memory. Each time, “yes, consider this done in the next 48 hours”. It never did happen.
Well that's just great isn't it. You realise I won't be able to get that George Benson song out of head all afternoon now!

Correct. They asked if I wanted to transfer the number, as the seemingly impossible task of cancelling the contract outright would invalidate this.
Err, I'm confused then. If you're not changing providers then surely you just move the sim to the new phone? I'm obviously being a bit dim here. I was replying to post #4 I thought.

It’s a good point. This was a SIM only deal, so I’m not sure why it was on a contract.
I have two other SIMs which are pay-as-I-go. One is €9.99 which is my everyday SIM, the other is a Vodafone Black which is unlimited and acts as my internet back up when I’m working. It’s a whopping 90 euros a month but I have only used it once when our router broke.
O2 wouldn’t release my number, so the Smarty Sim was a temporary number that none of my contacts knew. Sim only deal.

There are still sim only deals for both contracts and pay as you go. As HT was using it for the international roaming benefits, it would have been a contract to get these benefits.
