The seaside.
Anyone who slags off Marina Pepper (ex-Mayor of Telscombe) as people are doing above, I'd invite to do a Google images search for "Marina Baker Playboy" (NSFW - don't post pics here it will upset Google even though it's their search engine showing you them). Yes, it's the same person, and more towns should have Mayors like that, quite frankly. [/rampantsexism]

Pepper = a complete sh*t. Yet another incomer who tried to destroy the Albion because it wasn't part of her scene. Scumbag.

Brightons got a strong EDL connection .

Im impressed that Brighton police sent their biggest police officer to keep an eye on them.

I have no problems with people protesting, one group are apparently protesting against a future war against Iran - fair enough. But why do it in BRIGHTON? We're not a political centre, we're a seaside town, a place you go to for a bit of fun. And there's the reason. If people seriously wanted to protest about a future war they'd do it outside the American embassy or outside a military installation - but that would be too much like hard work. In Brighton you can make a weekend of it, have a totally futile protest that no one will notice (apart from the ordinary Brightonians who find themselves inconvenienced by having streets blocked and buses diverted) and then go clubbing. The various protest groups, all of them, are just the modern equivalent of Mods and Rockers.

Most embarrassing thread contender.

Not only do we let people shit all over us but we complain and name call (oooooo personal hygine) when others try and do something about it.

If you disagree with something, what do you do about it?

You should protest properly, not like these weekend types. Have a look at the anti-Vietnam war demos, that was PROPER protesting. Today's lot are a load of spineless hedonists in comparison, too scared to really upset the status quo.

So not an embarrassing thread at all if it helps some people re-think their attitudes.

Think you've hit the nail on the head there, 'GET OUT OF MY CITY'!

Didn't we have some troubles with NIMBY's a few years ago.

Don't tell anyone, but there's a little bit of me that would quite like to see the usual rent a mob UKuncut/SmashEDO type protesters get a slap off the EDL bunch.

Smash EDO does my head in. Just 15 year old 'anarchists' who don't understand anarchism. Secondly, EDO/ITT only makes a small component that's used in an F16 jet fighter. Why don't they go find BAE's testing ground, and protest there. I'm sure the new GBU's need test targets...

I'd rather the police gave them a slap, I dislike the EDL, so wouldn't want to give them the pleasure.

In London village.
Looking at the Arsegas report it looks like a bunch of convicted thugs and their camp followers travelling from places a long way from Brighton to attack peaceful local events and show off their bigotry in Kemp Town and elsewhere. It would be laughable if they were not so repellent.

LOL, no they don't. They just invite the Portsmouth division up....

Exactly. These regular EDL events in Brighton are all organised by the 6.57 Crew (Portsmouth hooligans) and the fact that many on here are happy to take the side of these out-of-town hooligans rather than the locals who turned out to try and stop them smashing up Brighton is pretty f***ing tragic, imho.

Yes, there is a Brighton branch of the EDL (the "Mighty mighty" Brighton Infidels), they even have their own branded hoodies, but there are roughly nine of them, one middle aged man who should know better and a handful of acne-riddled teens from Patcham.

The fact that the EDL called off a demo in Burnley yesterday so more people could turn out in Brighton should indicate to even the stupidest of NSCers which of the two sides had come to Brighton to cause trouble, and which was locals protecting the city they live in.

Sounds spot on, to me.

I hope to God and Harry that the defence of the realm is never left to the EDL I saw yesterday because if it is we will be in deep do do's as that lot will run a mile without a police escort

Those pics are from the halfwits 'shouty day' in Churchill Square in September when the shoppers pointed and laughed at them, until they got angry, two getting arrested, and the other 9 leaving in a tantrum/sulk.... thats the Brighton division....as for being Brighton fans, I personally couldnt care less...just didnt like them putting an Albion logo on their 'we are idiots flag'.... theres bound to be some EDL supporters among Brighton fans, but not many by any stretch of the imagination.....as witnessed 3 times now in the last few months.
