Useless trivia. I woke up in the middle of the night and opened a Football League Table book on a random page, and discovered that if goal difference (and not goal average) had been operating in 1923-24, Arsenal would have been relegated out of Division One instead of Chelsea.

Brighton came fifth in Divsion Three North and Portsmouth were champions of that division.

If you didn't read it incorrectly and the book did show that, then you should throw it away. Arsenal gained one point more than Chelsea that season.
