Trip to Portugal

I know people think I am mad taking my trailer tent to the Algarve but it is something I want to do and the ferries are booked. Am now sitting down working out the routes etc and am having problems finding much information about lmotorways, which are free, which you pay for, how much they cost etc anybody know of any websites that give this information in English as opposed to most which are in French. Any help would be appreciated also if anybody has driven that route, which the RAc route finder takes us down through Bordeaux would also be a help. Many thanks

I have looked at it and as you say it shows the cost if you use toll roads altogether. I will have to print out a copy of that with and without tolls and I am sure that there must be some A roads that I can drive on and let my wife drive on the toll roads. The AA do a chart showing prices but I was not sure if it was a standard charge from A to B or so much a km. The roads to Bordeaux show a charge of EU65 but 2 hrs less travelling time and less miles so just a matter of spending time comparing routes etc.

Charges are A-B , bearing in mind your vehicle, I'd be tempted to use autoroute as much as possible, better facilities . Having said that top up with fuel on 'A' roads, cheaper than motorway, but still cheaper than here.

I did a trip from Bilbao>Pamplona>Barcelona>Perpignan>Toulouse>Le mans>Calais 2 years ago and pretty much only used toll roads. It did add up in the end to probably about £100 but my god we ripped up the miles in no time. That being said, we were time sensitive!

I dont think your mad for doing this road trip, sounds like a great idea BG!
