Albion have today offered one-year professional contracts to Steve Brinkhurst, Steve Cook and Josh Pelling.
The club has also extended Lewis Ide's youth scholarship by a further six months after the midfielder missed most of his second year with a knee cruciate injury.
However, Chris Brencher, Liam Upton and Ollie Rowe have all been told they won't be graduating into the first team.
Director of Football Martin Hinshelwood broke the news to the second-year scholars this morning, and admits it is one of the most difficult aspects of his job.
"It has been great working with all of the boys over the last two years, and it's always disappointing that you have to let some go," he told seagulls.co.uk.
"It's a weird feeling, because you are delighted for some of the boys, and disappointed for others."
Defender Cook, who can play at full-bacl or centre-half, made five appearances as a substitute for the first team this season, making his debut in the dramatic Carling Cup win over Manchester City in September.
Pacey winger Brinkhurst and goalkeeper Pelling have also been involved with the first team as unused substitutes against Hartlepool and Crewe respectively.
Hinshelwood added, "They've come to the end of their scholarships and deserve to make the step up. It's time for them to go from being boys in our dressing room, to being men in the first team.
Hinshelwood was also keen to pay tribute to released trio Brencher, Rowe and Upton.
"The three boys have worked hard on their scholarships and can all go out with their heads held high," he said.
"Hopefully the boys will go on the exit trials next week and get picked up, and we wish them all the best for the future."
