Couldn't disagree more. Baldock has yet to prove himself at a higher level than league 1.
On that basis you would never sign a lower league player because they have yet to prove themselves. How do you expect to pick up a bargain?

It's the ability to spot a player who could make the step up while saving a fair whack. I very much doubt you even know much about him. Give me Baldock thanks. You only have to watch him to know he has something about him.

Not looking for a bargain looking for a proven goal scorer and presence at at least Championship level.

If he 'has something' he has yet to prove it at a higher level, and certainly didn't achieve at West ham.

Last time we spent a couple of million on a prolific league 1 striker, that didn't turn out to well.

I think we can do better.

Had they bid then? Thought first one was when we were in Spain?

A third bid for Spanish Len believed to be in the region of £3M was turned down by the club at the end of May. There is a report in The Argus by Brian Owen on the 28th of May.

Irrelevant in my opinion. He was the top scorer in the league for a team who finished mid table, he's too good for league 1 and is still young at 25. Sharp is a journeyman who has had a lot of injury issues recently and hasn't been any good for at least 2 years now, and Jerome is just a terrible, terrible player. He'll score the occasional screamer but his record is woeful. Personally I like us buying the top players from league one, lots of bargains to be had.

An inability to perform at a higher level is hardly irrelevant, we can only deal with facts when comparing players, and that has to be one that is very relevant.

He was hardly bad in the championship. Scored 9 I think for Bristol City in the season they went down, and they were awful, he had no service whatsoever. He also scored 5 in his first 6 starts for West Ham and only left them because of injury and their promotion to the prem. I think he'd be a great signing.
