Treatment of Swindon Fans

Following Swindons third goal a number of Albion fans were swearing and making threatening gestures towards a small group sitting a couple of rows in front of me. I asked several people around me what was this about as nothing of note had been noticed, I was informed they had clapped and cheered the goal. One of our fans then left his seat and returned with stewards who then escorted them from the ground.I realise that they should have been in the "Away Area" but considering the poor view of the match from that area and the fact that they had behaved themselves I was disgusted by our fans reaction, yes we lost but we are well used to it.
I HOPE AFTER REFLECTION THAT AN APOLOGY WILL BE SENT TO SWINDONS FORUM

If they're stupid enough to make it obvious that they're Swindon fans, then of course they will get abuse. Being escorted form the ground is standard procedure as well.

Bleedin' Swindle Hoolies: takin' liberties like that. I'm surprised the Albion supporters around them didn't give 'em a good shoeing, to be fair. Piss-taking scum: hope they lock 'em up & throw away the keys!!

Perhaps you should read the ground rules which states away fans in the wrong end can be ejected.

Yeah, can't really argue with that. They knew they shouldn't really be there, they should atleast act with dignity and not cause a scene. I can understand their being there completely though, I myself would have smuggled a Swindon fan into the home end given half the chance.

I think on reflection you ought to stop with the hand-wringing. It's football, not a bleeding tennis match. I wouldn't want to sit next to a load of oppostion fans especially if we're losing.

Don't you dare bloody go onto a Swindon forum and claim that any apology you make is somehow done in the name of us Albion fans as a whole. No apology necessary and none offered IMO.

This small group for all we know may live locally and on that basis obtained tickets where they could see the game instead of being in the away end. Its not as if the whole of the South Stand was infiltrated by Swindon fans out to cause trouble.

When we played at Swindon, if an Albion fan was in the home end celebrating the goals you can bet your life they would have been chucked out.

If they're retarded enough to sit in the home end and celebrate (how moronic can you get?), then they deserved to be thrown out.

They were sitting behind me, much rather have them than some of the usual loud mouthed idiots!

Bollocks to that. Since when did footie become this "oh, we're all just footie fans let's have a bit of friendly banter at the game" crap?

Football is the greatest sport partly because of it's very tribalism and the passion that you only really really get with the partisan crowds. f*** sake, please dear God don't turn footie into another sanitised rugger bugger sport. That would be the last straw.

I know Wooten Bassett! I got on the bus to go there rather than Wroughton by mistake. To be fair, both routes are numbered 54!

Bollocks to that! Football is football, whoever you support. They weren't right to sit in our end and celebrate the goals that basically doom us, but it doesn't mean we should be turning on them like a pack of animals! Christ, perspective.... Football is just a game, the anniversary of Hillsbrough should go a long way to reminding people that in my opinion.

Wooten Bassett is on the outskirts of Swindon , which means someone local obtained the tickets for them.
