Right you lot, I'm off on my hols on Monday, I'm off to the Carribean and i've just opened the travel adapter and it says it must only be used with non earthed 2 pin wire !
Does that mean NO British appliances can be plugged into it as all our stuff is earthed 3 wire stuff ???

Deathly hush.............. you should be OK; your main problem may be finding any electricity in the Caribbean in the first place! Some islands have American sockets and some have European one - have you got one of those multi-pronged ones for every eventuality? Unless it was made by an Albanian at night, it should work perfectly safely.
With good wishes and no admission of liability..........

yeah got a couple of the multi pronged ones, was just a bit worried by the "non earthed" bit as all out stuff is earthed obviously, didn't want to blow the laptop up when i plug it in !!!!

Although I'm no electrician, it's my understanding that European (2-pin) plug sockets generally aren't earthed anyway. It was certainly that way in Egypt and they use the same plug sockets. It wont necessarily do a lot of harm to your laptop under normal circumstances, but any kind of power surge and/or lightning strike could pose a few problems.
