I fully expected there to be no trains home so I arranged to crash at a mates house. I met him in the Strand and we went into the Chandos for a pint.

Then we decided to walk to Victoria to see what the score was. The station was closed and I asked a copper what wa going on and she said it has been closed since bombs. I enquired as to how long it would be until it opened but all she could tell me was that kept saying: "It would be open in 30mins but that they have been saying that for about 3 hours"

I thought it best we goto a pub for a pint and then see what the situation was after that. So we popped into the Bag Of Nails for a drink and when we came out we could still see loads of people in the road with Victoria still not open. Being decisive we went into the Dukes Head this time and decided that if Victoria was not up and running by the time we came out of there we would head back to his gaff where I would crash.

As luck would have it after another drink Victoria was open and after a 10minute wait I got on a train to Bognor that stopped through Worthing...Excellent.

Albion & England forever.

Went to London Bridge to catch the 16.46, which was cancelled.
Thought I was in for a long wait, but the 16.53 to Littlehampton came in & I even got a seat!
Trains almost empty this morning.

Get the 15:15 back to Burgess Hill and was told that no trains on the Thameslink Line were running so I got a lift back instead.

I was in Bristol for a meeting and decided that a direct route through Reading or London was out of the question, I therefore took a scenic detour back via Fratton, Barnham and East Croydon before arriving home in Orpington 3 hours later than expected.

A very nostalgic trip for me as 30 years ago I used to commute by train from Arundel to Collyer's School in Horsham, every school day for 7 years. It's hardly changed at all, though Billingshurst is a little more built up than I remember.

On a train...
As some of you know I work for Southern.

I wasn't working yesterday but today I have seen what changes there have been in 24 hours.

I arrived at Brighton at about 3pm and the station was eerily quiet. There were about 6 police officers patrolling the station, both Sussex Police and British Trasport Police.

There were police at Hastings, St Leonards, Seaford, Newhaven Town, Hampden Park, Eastbourne and Lewes.

The trains were very quiet today, with the 1642 Brighton to Seaford exceptionally quiet, normally a very busy train.

Throughout the evening my pager was telling me that Littlehampton, Bognor Regis and Charing Cross stations had all been closed due to security alerts.

I was told to patrol all trains and be on guard for any unattended items and report them to police.

I feel there will be a lot more station evacuation over the next few weeks whilst the railway is on high alert.

Never seen so many Police around London in all the time I lived here.

Tubes very empty again tonight and people visibly scared as they got on.

Monday will be very tense.

Brought it home today when an email went round work from a friend of one of the missing.

The girl (whose face has appeared today and will appear tomorrow on the front of many newspapers) actually rang her parents a good 45 minutes after the blast after getting out of one of the tube stations.

Not affected as I do not travel to work by train but 3 staff members where I work were injured in the bombings but are all back at home now thankfully. I also heard that Virgirlo was one station away when the bombs went off.

I am so glad nobody I know was killed and my sympathy goes out to all the people who have been affected by this atrocity.
