The replacement bus affects travellers to Eastbourne rather than Brighton. Not sure which station people use for Palace — East Croydon? The 22:34 from E Croydon runs as normal to Eastbourne but anything after that involves a replacement bus from Lewes which will add quite a delay. I’ve had this issue all week with family members travelling to London. Tip — if you can, you may find it better to drive to Lewes and park at the station. That’s what we’ve been doing.

Norwood Junction is the station that we get told to use. Police will escort all southbound travellers on some selected Thameslink services that are scheduled to call at Norwood Junction additionally, which will call at East Croydon, Gatwick Airport, Three Bridges, Haywards Heath, Wivelsfield, Burgess Hill, Hassocks and Preston Park for anyone needing other places than Brighton.

The 1728, 1758 and 1828 from Brighton will also call additionally at Norwood before the game.

Be interesting to see what tactics the OB use this time. Last season you were taken to Norwood no matter where you were going to, how you were getting there or even if you had a train ticket or not.

Season before, the let it bounce game, was an evening game and no kettling / escort.

Not sure about the kettle I'm afraid, not my forte, I think they people out if they hang back, especially if you are going northbound from Norwood you can get alternative trains, but thats only from experience.

Yeah I didn't expect you to know. It's just that in the last two seasons on one of them you could have gone to Selhurst, Thornton Heath or even East Croydon if you'd wanted but last season you couldn't.

I'm targeting getting the 22.26 back from Norwood to avoid a replacement bus service (to Worthing).

Is this realistic or should we expect to be kept behind for long after the game?

Depends if Palace think they are in Europe being a Thursday night, bused into the away end after being given a secret ticket collection location behind some bins aka Croydon 🤣

We weren’t, we turned left and walked to our coach just up the way in Whitehorse Lane.

Remember, Police in the red caps are Commanders of units.

Also no doubt some fans will behave like f***ing morons tomorrow night

Yeah my wording was pretty vague. I suspect you were ok if you were a bona fide coach traveller. I know @Hotchilidog also did this and preferred it.

But anyone travelling by train was kettled and marched to Norwood even if their start and destination was on another line. There were also a lot of roads cut off so if you drove it would have been a lottery.
