Now your talking, which regimental band is it as I havent seen any publicity about it.
13.25 marching through the Town to Victoria park around 13.25hrs rights past your cafe.
Google Haywards Heath Town Day and it will give you the time table including the bike ride.

I believe it's made up from the South East area I will try and confirm later.

Be very very careful how you answer this one Birdman.

Pick the wrong regiment, and Count Arthur will be off on another tangent rant.

I would love to know what his final decision is on breakfast plans for the day though.

I don't think there are too many sprint finishes on this years Tour.

Brighton might be, but obviously Ditchling Beacon will have a say in that.

The riders around the protected rider(s) are domestiques, they do the donkey work, fetching and carrying, as well as setting the pace, and generally controlling the main field (peloton).

If your looking out for Team Sky, Ian Stannard will be one of their main riders, you'll never here of him at the finish, but the team wouldn't function without the work he'll be doing from say 100 kms down to 20 kms.

I'm going to position myself at the top of Bear Road!!

Nope, you'll never hear of him say....oh, I don't know...for example..... falling over the finishing line ahead of Greg Van Avermaet in the mightily prodigious one day race known as Omloop Het Nieuwsblad perhaps?

I mean, what would be the odds on something like that actually happening!?

It's weird how people get so bent out of shape over cycling.

Probably the same people getting titsy about England being crap at football.
Yet when an international meeting, of which England is a world leader in, is presented to them on their doorstep, for FREE, it can feck off.

With rolling road blocks it'll probably on cause an hour's inconvenience, max - no feck off.
A completely friendly sport in every sense of the word - no feck off.

There was a 10k run down the seafront this morning.
I have no interest in that, so I didn't go down the seafront, and made sure I circumvented the diversions..
I hope everybody had a good run and enjoyed their day.

I didn't start crying like a little girl.

Now now 1066, we both know all the time Sir Brad is competitive Ian Stannard's job this week is very different to Omloop Het Nieuwsblad back in March, when you won a wod of cash.

Not to mention the fact if we keep brandishing Omloop Het Nieuwsblad around the place, we'll lose clippedgull before he ever truly saw the light!!

Well that's all very well, but the least you could have done was go down there for breakfast.

I was disappointed with Mr. Wiggins today, especially when he hit the front a short distance from home, why did he fade so quickly?

As for Omloop thingamy bob  Maybe its best I live in complete ignorance!

Smart ride by Brad. Stay at the front = avoid the crashes (well usually anyway). No intention of contesting the sprint, just keen to stay upright.

Because in front was the safest place to be, until 3kms to go.

At the point the race is nullified time wise (within reason) so the sprinters can sharpen up their elbows without worrying about non-sprinters getting in the way.
Very much a health and safety ruling.

That being said there was still a pile up at the back, involving some Sky riders, but they would have got the same time as the winner, because it was inside 3 kms.

But that's just not possible, as it will ruin everything for everyone.

If you are travelling from the East towards the roundabout there is a left turn into Marine Drive, they blocked this off and were getting cones etc. out of their truck. I hadn't take much notice before but it is a very small roundabout, so won't take long to remove and repair. Maybe they could put some big fancy roundabout in afterwards at least until next year.. :)

That's the bit I couldn't get my head round.
It was being talked about as if it would be a massive engineering project, but it's a 2 foot high, 10 foot wide rockery.
If anything the roundabout doesn't do the junction justice, the ride has created an ideal opportunity to beef it up a bit.

The signs are up saying just an hours road closure which is really good planning - I remember the Tour a few years ago over here doing something like 6/7 hour road closures which was massive overkill

Spun Cuppa

Thanks Greens :(
Watch the Tour in Haywards Heath and then leg it to brighten to see the finish, the best place maybe is on the Haywards Heath one way system as they will have slow up for the lightsonly joking the bends. Get a good breakfast in the Broadway.

Shouldn't that read, 'Approach the lights at speed and shout and swear at any pedestrians crossing, regardless as to whether they have priority' ???

:jester:

Arent the majority of cycists either on the pavement or going the wrong way up a 1 way street so immune from traffic lights

You are not wrong BG :) I was walking along London Road in Brighton the other day, when something caught my eye in a shop window. I was just about to change direction and move closer to the window, when a cyclist came past on the pavement from behind across my intended path. A fraction of a second earlier, and there would have been mutual damage done...

Removing the roundabout won't ruin anything, potential improve it. Why would you think it would ruin it?
But to do so would be very time consuming, expensive and a waste of already stretched resources, but it wouldn't ruin anything???
