That was a great day - I was at the top of Ditchling Rd / Coldean Lane. Still got the route sign in my parents attic that I nicked off the lamp post afterwards!

Pretty much where we were. I was cycling a lot then, from Shoreham to work and beck every day, and often to Steyning in the evenings for beer and oats!

I was working in Moulsecombe when the TdF came through, we cycled up through the back of Wild park on to thew top of the hill and saw the peleton et all whizz through.

I lived just off Elm Grove, but missed it as I had to work...in Crawley. Couldn't get the day off, they knew I was a huge cycling fan and wouldn't have believed me if I had thrown a sickie.

Our boss was old school, and verty strict, but we worked through lunch and went up after . . . it was considered a treat at the time! Sturtevant was a strict 9-5 booted n suited office. very much a thing of the past

I'm only going to make one prediction here.

Victor Campenaerts will be the rider to win the most kms in the breakaway prize.

He's totally reinvented himself from a specialist TT rider, and has been an absolute joy to watch this season.

He'll be in the break today for sure too

.

Rob Hatch on comms for Eurosport

Lots of over pronouncing in store

Be prepared to puzzle over names of riders that you've known for years :lolol:

I do like Rob Hatch though. Beats the Carlton Kirby show any day of the week!

I'd have snaffled those Bora wheels.

Imagine the mechanic getting that 'nago back to base and exclaiming:-

'since when were using bottom of the range Fulcrum wheels'.

I'd forgotten about Enoch.

If any guilt advert is going to win me over its gonna be Enoch.

Trouble is she wasn't even 'spectating'. Not even watching the riders, just out for a TV selfie.

Similar to the knob jockeys at football who just want to see themselves on the big screen. But with more severe consequences.

You might have got double lucky too as think they're sensibly not running fishing tackle either .
