Leeds United boss Dennis Wise has admitted his side have missed out on a number of transfer targets because of their extended spell in administration.

The Whites went into administration on May 4th amid debts of £35million only for Ken Bates to regain control at Elland Road at the start of this month.

However, due to legal reasons United cannot formally exit administration until a further 28 days have elapsed, further adding to Wise's transfer woe.

The Whites boss though insists there will be no excuses as his side bid to bounce back from their exit from the top two divisions for the first time in their history.

Wise told The Yorkshire Post: "We are talking to players but unfortunately we are having to wait.

"There are a lot of players we initially earmarked who have gone," he added. "It is about 10 but we understand the situation so we will not harp on about it.

"I am not here to make excuses or say 'we are miles behind people, give us time'. No, we will try as quickly as possible to get in the players we need and then take it from there."

Wise though insists the club will be bringing in new talent and urged supporters to be patient.

"It will take us a little bit of time at the start of the summer to bring in the kind of players we want to bring in," added Wise.

They shouldn't be allowed to sign anyone after the way they stitched up their creditors last season. Wise, get over yourself, you will have to build a team from the youth, and those mad enough to want to join Leeds for no fee. Sadly, it won't happen, he will get money, he will buy players, it's the way it goes.

lot of that is just paper talk and him talking things down. there have been several pre conts done going both way, in and out. mr bates had the bloody nerve to ask us if we wished to continue our funding.

there is a sizable kitty there for wise to spend as well. some schmucks are ready to buy out and ploughing the pennies in now so it can just be a formality when the embarrassment clause lapses.

the 28 day thing is not final either though the fl have said they will allow the club to trade if a challenge is made depending on which grounds.

It is a sad reflection on football today that despite what Wise says he will have a much bigger transfer budget than Wilkins. The sad thing is trying to run a club within its means these days is worst than over spending, going into administration and then starting again. No doubt Leeds will complain about their squad and expectations and then come to Withdean with a number of million pound strikers.
