As everybody has said the Tottenham game is a nothing game so why not as a thank you to fans who have helped them out during the dark years say people who had ST at Gillingham or The Goldstone have 2 days Monday & Tuesday next week to buy a ticket along with 1901 members. Withdean ST have 2 days Thursday & Friday Then Amex ST 2 days Sat & Mon and finally general sale. Or even combine Goldstone, Gillingham and Withdean STH into 2 days priority. That would then finish off all preferences before the season starts. Or am I being selfish but whatever is decided as a current STH I will come into that category and being retired if the club announce that tickets go on sale tomorrow I can drop everything and go straight to the tcket office to get them, so the chances are that I should be able to get a ticket, so it doesnt worry me too much.

1901 members already have admittance guaranteed to all friendlies and home cup games. Booking is not required. I guess that helps the ticket office out immensely.

As for the Goldstone/Gillingham days I doubt that data is still available or accessible!

Apologies if this has already been mentioned elsewhere in the thread but i couldnt be bothered reading anymore of this whining about previous season ticket holders at The Withdean getting priority for the Tottenham game.

The club is now entering a new chapter in its history with our move to Falmer. How long do these whingers expect the club to offer priority to previous Withdean season ticket holders for? Whilst i fully commend these fans whom we couldnt have done without we now have 18,000 (ish) season ticket holders. You cannot have a priority scheme within another priority scheme. Besides these season ticket holders were rewarded with first priority on there season ticket at Falmer. Of much more use and value then a poxy pre season friendly right??

How much longer do these people propose that the club reward them?? Forever?

Sometimes I think some people would genuinely rather we average gates of
7k each week if it meant they got the priority they clearly feel they deserve.

For the record i am not a JCL. I just think the added interest in the albion means things change. For example, I went to the majority of away games last year. The new away scheme may now mean I miss out on a couple of away days this season, specifically Palace and Pompey. Thats life, theres no point whining about it and id rather miss a few games a season knowing i support a team with such consistantly good following.

What will be will be so theres no point stressing about it. Just see what happens and enjoy the ride.

priority for: first game at amex (spurs) and first away game (pompey). then first come first serve. thats all withdean season ticket holders are asking for and they bloody deserve it not for the stupid rain reasons you hear, but if it wasnt for them.. no1 would be at falmer as there wouldnt even be a club! moving forward or not there have been some extremely loyal fans and they deserve to have certain priorities - not forever - but certainly to begin with!

Hang on a minute, What if there is one more deserved loyal Albion supporter who was done one more season as a STH than you, but the only reason they miss out is the fact they work and cannot get his ticket!!!!
Your post sums it up.
Will all these BHA supporting hierachy through the 'dark years' and 'wilderness years' just accept you will never be happy.

Fortunately I have never missed out on a ticket for any game that I have wanted as I put myself out but as you say there are many who have done more than me but are not able to try for a ticket. To say I am never happy is totally wrong especially where Brighton & Hove Albion are concerned. I fully accept that the situation may change as regards to the purchasing of tickets for certain games due to our new found fame but that is just a side issue of improving our appeal to new found supporters. I would very much doubt if there are many if any, supporters who have been supporting the club longer than me who have not reached retirement age, my first game was 65 years ago so it would be nearly impossible. There are people who have supported the club/team longer than me but they will also be older. They would probably not be still at work.

Actually, I would say the club alienates it's old Withdean fanbase at its peril. One day, in a few years time, Falmer will not sell out. The novelty will be over, and we'll settle back to 13 - 14,000. More than there is now, but the historic average, both for us and the division. I wouldn't recommend they alienate those most likely to still be there...

I bet there is one person, who has been to one more game and still delivers papers.

Joking aside, your Supporting record is very impressive and hope your loyalty and devotion is rewarded in the coming seasons at our new home.
But can you answer me one question honestly.

Are you getting a bit tired of hearing about priorities and 'my cat is blacker than your cat' scenarios.
Surely you must have a massive sense of pride knowing you have seen Albion play in Div 3 (south) etc.

To answer your question I would say Yes that is why I originally said give the priority for this 'meaningless friendly' and call it a day before the season starts and everybody then start with a a clean slate. As I have said I will hopefully get a ticket if not it isnt the end of the world, at least I will see a Spurs XI against us in Portugal.

Who knows if Brighton will fall away or not.

The far lower populated areas of Southampton and Derby, for example, maintain excellent crowds through all troubles and highs.
(And they haven't histories of mega crowds ... remember the tiny Dell and Baseball Grounds, in the modern era!).

I'm not old but was lucky enough as a lad to be at the Goldstone with 28,000 to 33,500 on many an occasion.
Brighton might be here to stay with great support.

I hope you get your Spurs friendly ticket and have a fantastic time in Portugal.
Personally, am not bothered about the friendly and want to savour the occasion against Doncaster.

Respect and admiration to you

Biggest load of crap ever, this is step one of the club moving forward and we sell out.Christ we have a superb catchment area to dip into if required but that won't be required.

I bet you said we would get 10k next season not long ago, many clubs who go to new stadiums such as reading, wigan etc etc took years to get good crowds and it took us 3 months to sell-out:)

Sir Albion. You know your stuff.
I recall doomongers (and Albion 'fans') reckoning we'd get about 12,000 at Falmer, including during the so-called novelty phase.
This is massive area (Littlehampton to Hastings to Lewes to Horsham) is the best part of a million people, and many have their heart with the Albion.
The loyalty was stretched to the limit by Bedson-Sizen-the Crooks, and the delapidating Goldstone-Priestfield-Withdean eras.

Understandibly with the above, and the PL profile in the Sky era, many locals opted for ManU, LFC, Arsenal & Chelski.

But Brighton are back in a big way, and the Board will work their socks off to continue the journey.
Tony will not allow his investment to be wasted.

I must hold my hand up and say I was one of those. I genuinely thought that our limit first season would be in the regions of 12 - 14000 if we were lucky. In my defence and that of many others we didnt know of TB and his aims or the fact that we would have Gus as manager with his new brand of football. This what has tipped the scales and increased the ticket sales.

You're right, that by luck or judgement, the timing of Gus and his football worked out so well.

I can imagine their original business plan was flexible to cater for lower figures, coming from experienced business people.

Paul Rogers, and many others have worked their socks off!

Perhaps a few fly-by-nights will fall aways in the second season ticket renewals, but if the football's good, others who lost out will get a chance.

It will take a few years to settle numbers wise. It was obvious towards the end of last season and the withdean crowds were 8k plus that a lot of 'glory hunters' were attending (probably help by the extremely unusual fact that that we only had one wet game at home and a really foggy one).
Will those new fans renew their tickets if we go back to the days of losing, sitting in the stands on a wet cold February day after a run of bad results and advanced mathematics are being undertaken to see how we can avoid relegation?? I think not

From our OS

Allocation: 1,275

Prices: Adult - £21.60. Seniors - £15.30. Under-18 - £10.80. Under-10 - £5.40.

Season Ticket holders get first crack. Can't see it going to members with that tiny allocation..

Never had a pre-season friendly where it wasn't general sale. These are going to be like effing gold dust - but i will be there!
