Correct - I think it was part of the deal that Spurs had to "guarantee" their first team. Unless I'm mistaken (can't remember where I heard it...) they were essentially picked because they were the "biggest" club who were prepared to do that?

Apologies if this has already been mentioned elsewhere in the thread but i couldnt be bothered reading anymore of this whining about previous season ticket holders at The Withdean getting priority for the Tottenham game.
The club is now entering a new chapter in its history with our move to Falmer. How long do these whingers expect the club to offer priority to previous Withdean season ticket holders for? Whilst i fully commend these fans whom we couldnt have done without we now have 18,000 (ish) season ticket holders. You cannot have a priority scheme within another priority scheme. Besides these season ticket holders were rewarded with first priority on there season ticket at Falmer. Of much more use and value then a poxy pre season friendly right??
How much longer do these people propose that the club reward them?? Forever?
Sometimes I think some people would genuinely rather we average gates of
7k each week if it meant they got the priority they clearly feel they deserve.
For the record i am not a JCL. I just think the added interest in the albion means things change. For example, I went to the majority of away games last year. The new away scheme may now mean I miss out on a couple of away days this season, specifically Palace and Pompey. Thats life, theres no point whining about it and id rather miss a few games a season knowing i support a team with such consistantly good following.
What will be will be so theres no point stressing about it. Just see what happens and enjoy the ride.

What about Sussex Senior Cup Final. A chance to see round the Amex before that.
The Spurs 'game' won't ever be mentioned in history as the first game at the Amex. A meaningless overpriced kickabout.
would like to go to the sscf, not to worried about spurs, first game will be Donny, get the competitive buzz

Personally I don't think you'll need to give priority to anyone. It'll probably sell out but I don't think it's going to be the mad rush for tickets you are making it out to be.
Allot of people I know myself included aren't bothering and want to wait for the proper first game.

It's an easy enough gesture to give "priority" to last season's season ticket holders - since neither the Senior Cup Final nor the Spurs game are going to sell out on the first day. Does it do any harm? No.

So Fans who spent 2 years driving to HOME games at Gillingham watching the worst ever Albion teams, shouldnt be gtiven the chance to watch the Spurs game, is that what you are saying ??

To be honest we could be playing a Scottish second division team and I would still want to go. I just want to look around the stadium so will gladly pay (and drive 600 miles) to do so.

No one forced them to go, they went to support the team they love, and credit to them. Take warmth from the strong sense of well being that Gillingham now brings. But that was then, this is now.
Bring back the Withdean, a cold and lifeless athletics venue?
Bring on the Amex, a quarter full of loyal dedicated followers for 30 years?
Or welcome the future with open arms, reward the young and local supporters who now want to see their local side in a quality stadium, packed full week in week out for seasons to come.
Take pride in what we have, tell your stories of Goldstone, Gillingham and Withdean with jovial spirit and feel good that you have served your club well.

Season tickets holders who want to go won't will miss out, as many fans are on holiday then or can't be bothered to buy tickets for the kickabout.

Really? Didn't you get first pick+3 at our new home? Why should the club keep rewarding people like yourself, over and over again. PSL holders should get first option outside the 1901 club, then maybe last seasons STH's, then open sale.
