It’s possible if he was put into a safe seat, but he’s still banned from Parliament on a 90 day suspension for contempt.Plot to oust Sunak as PM and bring back Boris hatched as 50 Tories attend meeting led by pro-Johnson aristocrat
Senior Tories are plotting to replace Rishi Sunak with ousted former Prime Minister Boris Johnson in an attempt to turn around the party's polling fortunes.www.lbc.co.uk
Get him back in, watching him getting demolished at an election would be wonderful.
Yep, it's the classic 'if the roles were reversed' scenario that I often highlight. You could IMAGINE what the usual suspects would be saying if it was someone on the other 'side' saying something like that. There are a couple of things about this that have left me scratching my head:
I wonder what the Tories would be doing if he was a less generous donor? At what amount does the response change from "What he said was inappropriate, not racist or misogynist, he has apologised, so let's move on (we're keeping the money)"
to
"We condemn what he said & will give the money back ASAP (we can't keep the money, it's toxic)"
My guess is anything under £1m gets the latter response (though I may be giving them too much credit and the reality is something like £10k)
What would the Tories being saying if David Sainsbury was caught saying "I'm not antisemitic, but seeing Grant Shapps makes me hate all Jewish men & he should be shot".
Would the Tories consider this antisemitic and be calling for Labour to return the £3m or so donated last year? Hmmmm...
Kemi Badenoch, Minister for Equality, a black woman, has been noticeable by her silence. The £10m should be given to charity. And Frank Hester should be arrested for a hate crime.
If you stood in the street, pointed at a black woman and said “she needs to be shot” and that she makes you hate all black women, you’d be arrested and likely charged with a hate crime. At least .
I'm increasingly perplexed why this sort of behaviour is allowed. Some Tories have called out Hester as a racist - but presumably only the target of the racism (in this case Dianne Abbott) can actually press charges? If I were her, I would....but perhaps she's wary of the huge amount of vitriol that would inevitably rain down on her from the Mail, Express, GBNews, etc, etc. Unbelievably depressing all round. The £10m should be given to charity. There is actually no such thing as pressing charges in UK law. You either support a prosecution (essentially by being a witness in court and talking to the police during the investigation) or not. Cases often proceed without an alleged victim supporting prosecution. The police gather the evidence that a crime has been committed, and the CPS decide whether to proceed based on the evidence provided.I'm increasingly perplexed why this sort of behaviour is allowed. Half the dimwits that already give her a load of abuse won't realise she hasn't supported the prosecution and will give her more abuse anyway. You could say that's what happens with domestic abuse victims, police involvement can make it worse, especially if they go ahead without the support of the witness. The victim not supporting the prosecution generally indicates they're fearing reprisal greater than what they've already received. There is actually no such thing as pressing charges in UK law. In this case, if he is prosecuted, Abbott wouldn’t need to do anything.

I'm wondering if this is classed as racial harassment then it would be out of time. If the police said the phrase 'she should be shot' counted as racial incitement, then there isn't a statute of limitations. There is actually no such thing as pressing charges in UK law. Good spot but she has now come out and confirmed the language was racist.Kemi Badenoch, Minister for Equality, a black woman, has been noticeable by her silence.
The press caused more fuss over Ms Abbott drinking a mojita on a train, than this.
