More than half of Conservative party members believe Islam is a threat to the British way of life
And I'd bet if you asked all those people who believe that to explain exactly what the 'British way of life' is, you'd get a different answer from every single one of them.

Though I imagine there'd be a common thread in there.

That would be an absolute betrayal of the non dom press Barons that have stuck with them through thick and thin.

A total disgrace

Stealing another Labour policy?

But why won’t Labour release all their plans?

More than half of Conservative party members believe Islam is a threat to the British way of life, according to a poll that sheds light on the hostility with which large parts of the party view the country’s second biggest religion.

The poll of 521 Conservative members by Opinium found that 58% say Islam poses a threat to this country – double the proportion of the overall population who believe the same. It found that 52% believe the increasingly prominent conspiracy theory that parts of European cities are under sharia law and are “no-go” areas for non-Muslims.
This is quite worrying when you think about it. Imagine being so one eyed that you support a party that has slowly destroyed the socio economic structure of the UK in order to line the pockets of a few....while all the time worrying about a mythical " threat " from Islam....we are truly entering the modern dark ages of fear and hatred and xenophobia.

Yes, but there's equivalence between left and right, and antisemitism is just as bad in the Labour Party.
You think of over half of labour members think Judaism is a threat to the British way of life?

Edit- apologies for the missed sarcasm

"There is a growing consensus that mob rule is replacing democratic rule. And we’ve got to collectively, all of us, change that urgently. We can make a start today with the new Democratic Policing Protocol …"

And how does the ‘Keir does not have a plan’ nonsense work if they are copying Labour policies?

As usual, they float this shit in the media and see if it’s sinks. I think they’ll be a huge backlash in the right-wing media about this but the spin they put on it will be very interesting.

Ben Wallace was absolutely right with his comments about Olaf Scholz.

“Time and time again Germany has been last to help Ukraine. At every stage they have had to be pushed or embarrassed into doing anything. That isn’t leadership that is followship.
“Scholz‘s latest gaffe shows that when his excuses are exposed he lashes out with not only dangerous use of facts but also often wrong facts!”

Absolutely spot on.

Oh, and I’m not interested in partisan replies about anything other than this specific issue. I know the Tories are shit. No, I’m not voting for them. I know Ben Wallace probably once buggered a ferret. Blah blah blah.

On this specific issue, I think he’s absolutely spot on. Germany have been incredibly weak since Russia invaded Ukraine and began their rape and slaughter of another sovereign nation. They’ve done the bare minimum, and even then only under duress.

Wallace is absolutely correct to condemn Scholz’s recent dangerous comments.

Two words: Russian gas.

Broadly I agree. But they started from a very different place from us -- the reliance on Russian gas, and post-WW2 anti-militarism -- both of which Merkel pursued relentlessly. Scholz has actually moved Germany a fair bit, and has been led by foreign minister Annalena Baerbock regarding reformulating defence and energy policies.

Galloway wins Rochdale.

Interrupted by a climate protester when giving his victory speech. Police seen on the back of the stage.

And a Monster Raving Loony Party ventriloquist's dummy just behind him over his shoulder.

British politics, eh?

Galloway is a deeply disturbed individual. I wouldn’t put him in charge of making a pot of tea.
