Such a pity nobody can be judged over this.

DC trying to earnestly make out he was the only one who knew what was going wrong.

Can’t trust a thing this snake says.

Lest we forget, despite him seemingly knowing the severity of Covid 19, during lockdown he took his wife for a day out at Barnard Castle and then lied through his teeth to us on national TV.

Never trust a Tory.

At last, Johnson and Cummings finally agree on something. From the COVID inquiry a few minutes ago.

That their Government, throughout Covid was 'an orgy of narcissism'. Well there's a f***ing surprise

“Toute nation a le gouvernement qu'elle mérite.”

You don't wonder how many more would have survived if TM had remained in post.

Johnson really was the worst PM at the worst time, a tragic timeline of events.
It shows to me beyond doubt that actually politics is a serious business, and elections people because they’re fun, charismatic and / or entertaining is actually a terrible idea. It’s a matter of life and death, and in this scenario electing a clown led to thousands upon thousands of deaths.

Johnson would have still been the worst PM at the best of times.
The man is a sociopath, and unfortunately, anything he did/does will expose that fact.

I am currently half way through a very interesting book called "How Westminster works....and why it doesn't" by Ian Dunt. I have always assumed that the civil service has the experts in each area but apparently this is no longer the case. We all know that the Minister merry-go-round means that very few of them stay in a job for a significant period of time, it is apparently even worse in the civil service. It is not unusual that someone is moved on after 9 months as they are encouraged to get a broad range of experience instead of becoming subject experts. I wonder if this will be covered in this Inquiry?

Within the higher echelons of the Civil Service there are very ambitious people moving round (particularly in the Westminster bubble), but 9 months would be a very short tenure in a relatively junior role, let alone a senior one. Johnson, Cummings and co moved a fair few senior people around because they thought they knew better than those people who had actually run the country for years but look where that has got us

It's similar to senior management in any company of that size that employs half a million people in that it has it's high fliers, but they are backed up by tens of thousands of experts who spend their whole careers in particular areas of specialism. Imagine what would happen if they really put someone in charge of running the country who had no competence, expertise, experience or background and didn't trust the experts ........... oh

It has certainly been the biggest disaster in politics that I have seen in my 60+ years, but I think even the most naïve of voters have now realised, haven't they ???

They moved experienced and intelligent people who would have likely blown the whistle on this government’s corruption and incompetence. Possibly?

Is it possible to go just one day without some almighty incompetent stupid f*** up

Rishi Sunak warned over ‘mad’ and ‘idiotic’ decision to put Elon Musk at centre of AI Safety Summit

The Government plans to put “maverick” Elon Musk at the centre of the AI Safety Summit this week, despite warnings from Tory insiders that the “idiotic” move could backfire. Mr Musk, who runs Tesla and SpaceX as well as X, will attend a number of events at the summit on Wednesday and Thursday, followed by a reception for business leaders on Thursday evening and a “conversation” with Rishi Sunak about AI risks which will be live-streamed.

A former official who worked on UK tech policy told i: “If I was still there, I would be telling them they are absolutely mad for doing this – it is idiotic. It is going to be the final nail in the coffin for a number of careers of people in No 10.

and to think all this wisdom of his was the direct benefit of a private education 😉
He's a classicist*.

Which means he understands 'I wandered lonely as a cloud' as a metaphor without knowing what a cloud is made of.

*OK, bit of an exaggeration. Pretentious ****, then.
