Maybe its something to do with Russell T Davis leaving but they are only having 5 episodes in one big story arc in the spring played daily over the period of a week.

And Martha will join permanently.

Will be a shame if it gets axed but if the BBC have only ordered 5 than it must mean its being scrapped.

Anyway - series 2 of Torchwood was very good in places... and it a brilliant ending.

So, no it's not the death knell - in my opinion, of course.

Plus of course Dr Who itself is only having a handful of specials next year, rather than a series.

I thought Torchwood was brilliant the whole way through last series - i thought it really found it's feet
