Sky sports is reporting that a top footballer has been jailed for 18 months for breaking a womans nose and groping her.

What a coincidence, so has Marlon King

It may be that gerrard got off lightly for what he did, but with regard to king, he had it coming big time, unlike gerrard he has a string of previous convictions for much the same thing.

His family disgraced themselves by calling the verdict racist, (according to the Sun) and when I saw king on a jury for an albeit fictional bbc programme that was about an alleged rape, the things he said about the women, his attitude towards women and his remarks in general left you in no doubt what kind of bloke he was. Long overdue me thinks.

Given all the publicity, I doubt he will play professional football again, I can't see any club wanting to go near him....sad thing is, as far as money goes, he wont suffer !!

People were saying the same about Lee Hughes

This piece of scum was earning £35k a week at Wigan.
The world has gone mad when a player as ordinary as Marlon King commands this type of money. Never mind, there will be a place waiting for him at Notts.County when he comes out of nick in 8 months and he can team up with Lee Hughes and compare notes about life inside.

Shows the world has gone mad when they believe all the figures they read in the tabloids....

Besides, he obviously signed his contract when he joined Wigan. They signed him from Watford and he was absolutely superb for them.

Sky Sports were reporting 38k a week this morning, I would imagine that is about right for a premiership player.

Watford in all fairness were hardly a great side at the time he was playing for them, average at best.

He will get fixd up with another club when he comes out because he can score goals and that isa much sought after commodity. Whether or not he gets to earn £30k a week again is debatable

I wouldnt be suprised to be honest i used to work for hsbc and i had the fortune or misfortune to speak with several premiership footballers on the phone. Obviously i would then have to look at their accounts and the money some very average players were on was disgusting. I remember one lad at Wolves who obviously i cant name but he was very much a fringe first teamer and he was on over 20k a week and that was the last time they were in the premiership.

He'll get snapped up when he's out. 100% certain of that. If he keeps his nose clean, he'll be out by July - perfect timing for the new season.

But, why? I've never understood why clubs kept signing the guy, he's not worth the hassle in my own humble opinion and there are plenty of other strikers out there guaranteed NOT to score goals for you.
