its hard to look past the big 3

Storer v Doncaster
Reinelt v Hereford
Virgo v Swindon

purely for emotional reasons, but probably none of the best scored

Maybe Zamora's against Reading at Withdean
Wilkins Free kick against Ipswich
Carpenters away at Sheffield Wednesday

Nelson's goal at Brentford in the FA Cup is always touted as one of the best ever, but never saw it - and there's no footage of it anywhere (unless you know differently of course!).

I'd go for:

Case v Sheffield Weds (FA Cup semi)

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Q5Xh0wU9oDM (about 8 mins in)

Lawrenson v Wolves (FA Cup, 79)

Munday v Leicester (League Cup, 95?)

- Nelson v Brentford: still the best for me, apart from Maradona's effort against England I have never seen a better solo goal.
- Zamora v Halifax
- Ward v Mansfield

Nelse v. Brentford, best I've ever seen. Unbelievable.

Zamora v. Halifax. Quality - spectacular and great technique.

Couldn't pick a third, frankly; plenty of contenders over the years but those two were head and shoulders above the rest.

I would add Mike Small versus Millwall at home in the play-off match. Superb team move.

Is the correct answer. Just proves that getting lashed, toking, and taking crack is pretty pointless when you really think about it. Mother Nature tooled us up with the necessary chemicals in our body to get off our tits on moments like those.

Still makes me smile when I remember reports filtering through in the North Stand that Barnsley fans were on the pitch celebrating because they thought we had drawn:lol:

Right, now where was that can of Stella I was looking for..........

If you saw Nelson's goal at Brentford you would nominate it.

My other two are Gerry Ryan at the Goldstone against Manchester City and Gordon Smith at Wembley.

For the older fans I think Bob McNicol against then the current Division 1 champions Burnley, in the FA Cup at the Goldstone.
He struck the ball from wide just over the half way line and it went in like a rocket.
I have never seen a more powerful shot in all my years of watching football.

My dad still talks about that one too- he nonchalantely strolled into their half with the ball and just let fly.

Would love to have seen it.

Personally best goals and most important are two distinct categories.

From my memory the ones I have enjoyed watching most were:-

1) Ian Chapman V Bournemouth to drag us back into a nothing evening game. (3-3 in the end.)

2) Kurt Nogan circa 1993, one two with McDougald and then curled it into the north stand goal, hitting the stantion before flying back out of the net. Don't think either the defence of the keeper moved for it at all.

3) Zamora V Halifax.

Glenn Murray's over-head winner at Southend, next Tuesday.

Dean Cox's mazy dribble and cheeky chipped finish against Forest (a) in this year's play-off semi.

Nick Forster's 30 yard free-kick at Wembley.
