Brilliant to see Mr Bloom enjoying himself on the lap of honour yesterday.

Normally I hate chairmen trying to jump on the bandwagon when the team succeed, but how deserved it was in his case. Not just for Falmer but for the blinding decision to appoint Poyet. I wanted to run on and kiss the bloke

How short is he, out of interest? When Gus lifted the trophy with him, I thought Tony was going to be left with his feet dangling in mid air.

Hardly a chairman jumping on the bandwagon. More one who stopped the bandwagon being sent to the scrap merchants and then paid for a massive upgrade.

I love the way Bloom stays out of the limelight the majority of the time.

I liked it when he was patting his daughter on the head and he didn't have to bend down much. His wife is pretty short as well, she'd have to be.

I know. That's the point I was trying to make.

Some of them do that. Bloom is not one of them. He paid for the bandwagon, and all of us are on for the ride.

Tony Bloom & Gus Poyet-the single most important relationship for a long time let's hope they stay happy together for a long time to come.

Abort, retry, fail
You see chairmen giving a hug to players/managers and it is all for the camera.

Blooms body language was a hug of excitement, pride, joy and full of meaning. By jove, we are a lucky club to have him.

And the best thing about Bloom, is that he is one of the shrewdest men out there.

He'll know when to let things roll, and he'll know when to step in if he has too.

I dont really remember Mike Bamber, but was told he was one of the best chairman in football. (even Brian CLough liked him!!)

I wonder how Bloom compares to Bamber?

Nice to see Bloom doesnt display his ego.

How refreshing...

You just know that this is now a project that is going places, and he'll do whatever it takes to make it happen.

I think Bamber was a bit of a maverick and had nowhere near the personal fortune that Bloom has. Keith Wickenden from what I gather had the finances and was the sensible counter weight to Bamber's sometimes rash decisions. Once Wickenden died in a plane crash the wheels came off. Many blame Bamber for the club's demise having given out 10 year contracts to players whilst in the top flight among other extravagences.

Bamber was fantastic for the fans, not sure he was for the long term for the club. I think we probably have a shrewder and richer chairman in Bloom.

Bamber was nowhere near as rich as Bloom, but they are of a similar gambler/maverick types. History shows that Bamber provided us with the greatest period of success the club has had but what we dont really know is at what price this success came with. Many different versions have come out as to how the wheels came off.

Only history will in the end show the answer to the question of how Bloom compares to Bamber. What is without question is that Bloom has the albion closer to his heart than Bamber and has provided us with the Amex. What happens though if Bloom's money run's out?

There's little doubt that things started to go badly wrong following our relegation from the old First Division, we had Martin Keown on loan whilst in the Second Division and much as Chris Cattlin would have liked to sign him (he would have been quite cheap as he was 19) we didn't have the funds. We let several players go (Neil McNab, Gordon Smith to name but two) for very small fees just to try and ease the cost of player's salaries. Granted the TV money was not what it is now but there were no parachute payments either. Bamber had gambled but ultimately lost but you can hardly complain about the man who led us to the top flight. The same thing happened to quite a few clubs, Bristol City, Huddersfield and Bradford hit the rocks following relegation and we all know about the shower from Croydon.

Understated as opposed to overstated by DK and his cronies who used every opportunity to be on the pitch talking about something or other.

If it wasn't for his drive and ego this club would probably have folded. There are far too many snide digs a DK on this forum these days imo. Can't we just appreciate what both have done, it's not a competition.

It seems very unfair on Dick Knight that all his days were comparatively dark and filled with struggle. He did not have the incredible money to take us out of Withdean and the banks withdrew risky funding for huge projects like 'Falmer Stadium' at the time.
Instead, a man with enough regard to take a personal risk stepped up. He will, I'm confident, show the banks the utter FOLLY of their timorousness as he recoups his investment and starts raking in profits.
It did take for him to be a supporter of The ALBION and with enough fanaticism to get involved - for that we are indeed very lucky.
Tony Bloom displays no perceivable attitude, he wears no crown of egotism nor does he let wealth envelop him with charisma.
No cigar-smoking big-shot (no disrespect to Sir Winston Churchill) and not one to push his way to the front.
Defining the fellow based on preconceived notions of how he should be, would be a bit of a mistake - he seems just simply down-to-earth.

We just have to like what he means to BHAFC.
