I think my point is being missed or deliberately overlooked! Maybe I'm splitting hairs too sharply for the Blair haters.

No. Not at all. It's very simple. If you commit a crime you are a criminal. When you are convicted you become a CONVICTED criminal. The conviction does not make you a criminal, the commision of the crime does.

War criminals never get brought to trial let alone convicted if they're on the winning side.

Whereas the sociopathic right wingers feel that illegal wars leading to the destruction of millions of lives are somehow acceptable as long as it serves Blighty and her ruling classes...

If Mars and Earth were engaged in nuclear war you are one of those twits who would back Mars.

Don't you have to convicted to be a 'criminal'. So, the answer must be, no, he isn't a war criminal.

Surely if you commit a crime....you are a criminal. If you don't get caught you are a lucky CRIMINAL.

And for my money he's one of the worst, a despicable shite, who had the audacity to call himself a Socialist. That was until he saw the darkness......and smelt the money.

I would be too, if Earth illegally invaded Mars for nefarious reasons.

Right and wrong shouldn't be dictated by location.

Idi Amin was a tryant, there is a difference, true only by the width of a fag paper. One was a leader who busily committed genocide, the other thought he was Napoleon, who deceived Parliament and took us to war on a lie.

I'm certainly more right wing than left, but in my opinion Blair is a war criminal.

Knowingly doctoring the evidence for war (or knowingly accepting that evidence) and putting it before parliament.
In my eyes that makes him culpable for the atrocities that have occurred and still continue as a result.

I vote yes - criminal.

He presumably has some blame in Kelly's death too, whether it was suicide or murder...

The buck stops with him.

I take it that everyone voting yes also considers Churchill a war criminal as well.

Drew, get real. Churchill did not order the extermination of millions of people. He was a war time leader and the tower of strength we needed at that time.
Now not knowing your age I suggest you make that remark to either of your Grand Parents or Great Grand Parents if they are still alive and do not be surprised if you receive an instant rebuke.

Tony Blair, the main reason I left.
Self centered, egotistical prat who just wants his name in history books.
How is it that fools like this always seem to get the top job.
Same going on here now, I may come back!

It was certainly criminal for a Labour Prime Minister blindly to follow a NeoCon US President like Dubya into a wholly unjustified invasion.

This raises the interesting question to what extent was Tony Blair a Labour Prime Minister.
The fact that he was the leader of what passes these days for the Labour Party, sure, I'll concede you that.
But what other indicia of a Labour PM did he display?

Ramsay MacDonald, Clement Attlee, Harold Wilson, James Callaghan, Tony Blair
There used to be a song on Sesame Street: "One of these things is not like the other. One of these things doesn't belong...

Not in the same way as Milosovic and that Bavarian chap but surely if you take your country to war against international law then by definition surely you are a war criminal
