He didn't kid himself that he was a professional footballer. He was. He left Barnet because he'd had enough of the professional life and wanted to play part time. So many opinions and yet, I doubt many of you have ever spoken to him.

Fraser was a professional footballer in name only simply because at the time The Albion couldn't afford anybody better. A limited ability player at best and comes across as a very bitter man.

Indeed. By all means say he was a shit footballer, that's what football fans say about loads of players, but people who don't know him shouldn't criticise him as a person when they know **** all.

Sorry, but when someone puts that on twitter people aren't going to create a love-in for the once very average league one/two footballer who played a few games for us. It is bound to get a negative reaction and people will think he's an idiot for writing it. Still, despite his anti BHA comments, I'm sure he's a great bloke in real life...

Tommy Fraser gave his shirt, signed by all the players, in undoubtedly his best performance for us when we knocked out Manchester City out of the cup in Withdean for my sons 13th birthday/bar mitzvah. Nearly 5 years later its still on his wall.

Which part is right? The part where he says this 'sums Brighton up to a tee'? Do you really think this episode sums us up as club? Or maybe the part where he says 'still the same old shambles', implying that we've always been a shambles? Do you think that's true? Granted, it is embarrassing at this moment in time but hardly a reflection of all the amazing stuff to have happened at the club in the last 3 years. I hope you can see and understand that actually Fraser was upset with Knight when he left, prompting years of bitterness on his part. Since then, his career has fallen apart drastically and he is using this to have a dig. As has been pointed out to him, we will be okay long term, but his footballing career (if you can call it that) is over. Poor Tommy is just having a hard time getting to grips with that.

The way the club have handled this is nothing short of atrocious. Even if Gus had supposedly been informed before he was on TV, to release the statement when they did is crass and offensive in the extreme. Yes, Gus has been a nob, and yes he's said some questionable things in the past, but no matter what some of the revisionist plums on here say, we improved year on year and played the best football I've ever seen.

We have a wonderful stadium and a generous chairman. In so many other ways we are still amateurish and tinpot, as this whole sorry episode as proven.

Spoke to Tommy a couple of times....seemed OK,not the best of footballers by any means....but he achieved far more than I could do so I have no right to say he was shite. I would have loved being a professional footballer with the Albion but my talents lay elsewhere....

I agree with some of that. Yesterday for me was a real blow due to timing. And yes, that for me is the embarrassing part. However, it's hard to judge the board on their actions (aside from the timing of yesterday) without knowing the full story behind what went on with Gus. They may well be handling it correctly for the most part. I'll reserve my judgement until this clears up. It's a huge judgement to say we are 'amateurish and tinpot in so many other ways' without knowing what goes on behind the scenes or knowing the full details. Unless of course you do?!?!

nope....but then i don't know who won the voice the other day, i don't know what happened in the japanese parliament yesterday, i have no idea whats going on in 'neighbours' or what was on the front page of the daily star.

No, he isn't, he's a top bloke and I've known him since he was eight years old. And yes he DID quit full-time football because he was fed up with the itinerant lifestyle and wanted to be in Brighton with his friends and family for a bit.

Going to Australia seems an odd decision for someone fed up with itinerant living and wanting to be close to friends and family, don't you think?

On a similar vibe he gave my mates lad his match worn shirt from what turned out to be his last season with us. Can't claim to know him myself but I do know his father and he is a top chap.
