Anyone go to see him at the Concorde 2 last Saturday night? Anyone picked up the new long awaited (6 years!) album? Anyone know who he is?
I was rather surprised that the gig had sold out as I didn't think he had much of a following. For the record the gig was awesome and the new album sounds pretty good too punk:

He's a good friend of a couple of my mates. Met him a few years back, really unassuming guy and extrememly talented. Loved his first album and really need to give the new one a good listen.

He's confirmed for Bestival so I'll catch him there.

tom vek, wow.

in a way, i hope he doesn't release another album for 6 years because there's a wonderful degree of mysticism that surrounds him, and i don't want the music industry to get their hands on that.

apparently he went and worked in a NYC record shop during the inbetween-album period.

something else i liked was that new album is almost an extension of the first album, he hasn't really moved his music in any way in 6 years - which is great because he's almost his own sub-genre now.

So true HYS, I couldn't agree more with regards to the new album sounding like an extension to the first one. I also agree with everything else you say above

He built a recording studio. I reckon he'll become a producer and stay in the background, best place for him. He's not that comfortable doing his own stuff and his voice obviously isn't as strong as his supernatural ear for a complicated arrangement inside a tune.

That video is brilliant, thank you Mr Scald. I wish that gig had carried on for several days, possibly weeks, maybe months if we'd got a deal on the drinks.

The Lower the Sun & Ain't Saying My Goodbyes, easily his two finest tracks.

Absolutely loved We Have Sound, but that was years ago now - looking forward to hearing some of his new stuff.

No worries mate. A.P.O.L.O.G.Y (track 7) is a stand out track for me but the whole album as said above could well be an extension of We Have Sound, a decent listen.
