Hmm... quite a lot of previews are putting us mid-table. Gives us a good chance of proving them all wrong, methinks.

Here's Sport's predicted League One finish...

2. Carlisle
-----------------------
3. Leicester
4. Southend
5. Huddersfield
6. Oldham
-----------------------
7. Peterborough
8. Scunthorpe
9. Colchester
10. MK Dons
11. Brighton
12. Tranmere
13. Northampton
14. Bristol Rovers
15. Stockport
16. Orient
17. Hartlepool
18. Millwall
19. Swindon
20. Hereford
--------------------------
21. Walsall
22. Yeovil

Sorry but whoever compiled that table is a GOON
Not really. It's just that the sort of person who compiles these tables simply doesn't have a clue about any football outside the top two divisions (at best) and formulates opinions based purely on signings that make it to press featuring anybody who was once heard of.

Hence Leeds - "massive" club (lol), managed by McAllister (once a Prem player), a couple of "name" signings you've heard of, big ground = nailed on first place.

Luckily, we all know it's bollocks.

Although Leeds are nailed on to romp it this term

Actually I can see both us and Tranmere in the playoffs not 11th and 12th

Well I, for one, will be pissed of with 11th. Flirting with the playoffs is my prediction

In all honesty, 11th might well turn out to be reasonably close. It only takes an injury to a key player and we could easily turn into a mediocre outfit.

And you could make a case for nearly ALL the teams above us in that table. It's not that ridiculous.

As for Leeds winning the league - I wouldn't put my mortgage on it. I'm not even convinced they'll finish in the top 2!

The top 6 is completely open. I believe we could be any place between 1st and 12th. It really is completely open...

I think most of the league predictions this year are pants. 1st to 8th will be tight as will the bottom and i still say Hereford will finish bottom

I don't think anyone would dispute our squad has more quality and depth than last season, so how the hell are we 11th?

In order for us to drop 4 places the division would have to have gotten ONE HELL of lot stronger, which it hasn't.

I think it has got a bit stronger, as have we, so I'd expect us to be in the region of 5th or 6th place. We have a good defence but there are questions marks about central midfielder, creativity, fitness of strikers to go the distance, keeper erratic.

You see, Pavilionaire. If you keep posting these incisive and informed comments you're gonna get banned.

I can see us battling, as you say, for 5th or 6th. I think we'll be one of those sides that makes oppostion fans suck air through their teeth and say "Wouldn't want to go to Withdean having to get a result." We are definitely one of the League One dark horses.

The division is up for grabs. Clubs like Southend, Colchester and Scunthorpe historically are perennially shite. If they go back to type that frees up 3 spots above us in that table.

I also don't see what Oldham or Huddersfield have done better to leapfrog us into a play-off spot.

Granted, Leeds, Leicester, Carlisle, Peterborough and MK Dons ARE well-equipped and the jump from League 2 to 1 is not that great. I expect them all to be in the mix, but there's no reason to fear any of them.

I think Huddersfield will have a good season. Good manager in Stan Ternent who has brought in a number of decent players. Plus its their centenery year, so initial crowds will be up and if they have a good start, they might stay the distance. I can see them in the top 6.
