it was Lee Barnard and was probably more than 3 yards offside when the ball was played. Barnard deliberately stood 5 - 10 yards behind the defenders (as T Henry used to do) then ran back to challenge for the ball as it dropped. This happened twice.
I think that you are wrong. Lee Barnard was an example of how to play the offside correctly. He always stood about 5 yds offside thus attracting the attention of the defenders then moved on side at the last moment and didnt attempt to play the ball until it had been played by somebody else thus making him onside. As soon as another player plays the ball witha kick or header he is then onside and able to get the 2nd ball when it drops.
If only he had agreed to join us when we tried to get him on loan while at Spurs.
IMHO the most intelligent striker in Div 1.
