Has anybody seen today's Argus? Apparently according to Naylor's tweet yesterday he said "Welcome back! Still at the office. See Tues Argus for exclusives with Gus and CMS, LuaLua latest, plus big signing getting his kit on".

I was just wondering if anyone could enlighten me on the LuaLua latest?

Cheers

Also does that just mean CMS in our away kit, which we have seen?

I've been pessimistic about Lua Lua recently, but reading the above makes me think... if Gus & Tony wanted/were waiting for Newcastle to cave in, that is exactly what they would say. So somewhat paradoxically, I'm suddenly more confident we'll get him, even if only on loan.

We ain't going to risk £1million plus on a player with a dodgy ankle. Unless Newcastle get realistic about the price he ain't coming here. I doubt Newcastle would want to loan him as if his ankle went again who would pick up the treatment bill and Newcastle would be left with a crocked player they can't sell. Insurance company would want high premiums as well. You got to feel sorry for Lua Lua who has been left in limbo through no fault of his own.

By not agreeing to sell KLL, there cannot be any possible advantage to NUFC as they have indicated he will not be a part of their first team squad.

They can either opt to receive a figure, taking into account the current situation, OR they can continue to pay his wages and in six months he will be worth less than he is now and in 12 he will be able to leave on a Bosman. All they are doing effectively is screwing up a young man's career by playing hardball.

Hopefully, they will see sense and at least allow him to leave on loan.

In the overall scheme of things, medical costs are not a showstopper !

I agree, though I've thought all along he will eventually end up here.
Last time we tried to sign him it took forever and seemed to be dead, then it happened.
We've seen with CMS, we saw it with Calde, Gus seems to get who he wants in the end even when it seems against the odds.

we should settle this over a game of poker.

Tony, would you be classed as a ringer?

Isn't the point about Lua Lua that we can't insure him if, as has been reported, he failed a medical. We are not going to spend a million plus on a player that could be retired through injury within months and we get nothing back. If he comes here for half a season and proves his fitness, the insurers can see that he is fit and agree to cover him and we pay an agreed fee to NUFC.
