Any gourmet tips for the above? I'm heavily reliant on combos of cheese, ham, tomato, occasionally corned beef, but what else is a winner?

Ham, tomato and CHEESE will always be the winner I'm afraid. Flipping unreal! Dipped in some ketchup for good measure!

I can imagine the merits of pretty much all the suggestions above. Except this one. I suspect it has to be sampled to be appreciated.

I think some of these suggestions are just for sandwiches using toast rather than bread, rather than the true toastie, constructed via a sandwich toaster.

Strong cheddar cheese with Stilton and salami with colmans mustard salt and pepper
