Don't call me a :dunce:, but being from not round Brighton any more, I'm not entirely sure where it is...

I've looked on OS maps and I know it's south of the A27, but I can't find it.

I know the arguments as to why it isn't the best site etc. etc., but can someone please post a map or just give me a description of some sort regarding its location...

Thanks.

Thanks, Don (and HB&B) -

does that mean it's that big sort of 'farmland triangle' just north of Blatchington Windmill...?

Toads Hole is actually big enough and has a dirty great big bypass running through the middle of it and is actually about a mile from Hove station and Aldrington. (awaits onslaught) Dick may have overlooked this site all property around (bottom end)
is council owned and old Cooke or his family will sell!!!!!!!!!

read the other threads about the whole alterantive sites issue. I cant remember the exact details, but the site is considered too strategically important for a stadium and there's a long term plan to develop some sort high tech business park at some point in the future. Added to this, i believe the owner simply doesnt want to sell, which is usually a bit of an obstacle in these matters (unless your a council wanting to build in which case you compulsery purchase)

i just hope that argument about too strategically important holds ... seems a bit flimsey in my eyes

You sure you boys know where Toads Hole is ?? If you walk along Goldstone way onto the edge of Hove Park (don't look right) then up the 1st part of the old shoreham road then take a right down to Hove station
(turn opposite Hove Rec) ok about a mile and a half.

The land is worth mega millions to the owners. They will want to sell to a housing developer to maximise land value, the council only want a give planning permission for an industrial Hi-tech park to create jobs and wealth for the city. The owners will just hold onto the land until the right time comes to sell - and it won't be to a pennieless football club!

I don't believe the council owns any land at Toads Hole, maybe just the steep western side that is trying to become a nature reserve.

It is a huge site but has a lot going against it. Archer and Belloti had plans for a stadium on this site which just about sums it up!

No the council doesn't own Toads Hole Per se just the sprawling estate that surrounds it I speak as somrone who grew up near Burwash road.

Wasn't one of Prescott's points that it must be affordable. A prime piece of land like that would cost a small fortune.
