An absolutely fantastic start in previous seasons we would've have held onto the win Vs Leeds and going a goal down in the first minute to Leicester would cost us. The character on display is impressive

About 6 weeks ahead of schedule on the staying up tracker, and 1 week ahead of Europe.

Nice.

We are now + 6 on the corresponding fixtures last year …
(for purposes of this - Fulham will be Norwich. My decision is final)

Man Utd (a) + 3
Newcastle (h) -
West Ham (a) + 2
Leeds (h) +2
Norwich/Fulham (A) -1

Norwich (A) was 0-0. I guess Bournemouth will be Burnley. Forest can be Watford.

So +6 on YOY, but same number of points (13)

Man Utd (A) + 3
Newcastle (H) -
West Ham (A) +2
Leeds (H) + 2
Norwich / Fulham (A) -1
Leicester (H) -

Coming up - tricky set of YOY fixtures…
Bournemouth / Watford (A/3)
Palace (H/1)
Brentford (A/3)

I often think, when I hark back to the days of Shrewsbury away, MK Dons away etc (with all respect to those teams), how fortunate
I was to start following the Albion. In those days (the late 90's) I would have said you were mad if you'd told me that 25 years later we'd
be in the PL top 5. Madness, utter madness.

I finally got my lazy arse into shape and have updated the full league table using the same methodology for all the teams.

A few points to highlight:

Man Utd have actually done well against a difficult start on paper.
Liverpool have done even worse than it first appeared. A quite easy forecast start which they have under achieved against mainly through failing to beat Palace.
Palace have started slowly. Shame

We are doing FABULOUSLY.

I'm trying to work out why those in credit or above the tracker amounts to 47 points, and those behind have -17 points. I'd have thought it would be round about level (taking into account draws collectively amounting to teams getting two points, and a win/loss three). What am I missing?

I think it’s every teams’ comparison to getting 40 points. Therefore as most teams will get over 40 points the pluses are more than the minuses.

Another relevant point to note on the above analysis is that the Chelsea first half of the season is significantly worse than their second half of their season as per this model with just 12 expected points from the first half of the season and 28 from the second. Incredible! But good news for Graham if he gets to the second half of the season.

Going to need to re-title the thread…

Done, temporarily...

At least we know we can avoid De Zerbi bashing!

Ooh yes, good reminder!

And here is the update from the weekend's football. Forest falling. Fulham rising. Seagulls holding.
