Neither here nor there
Were they actually up against each other? The most usual question is Tiswas v Swap Shop but maybe Superstore overlapped once Swap Shop was gone.

Wow i kind of forget they were two separate things, they seem to live in my memory as the same thing.

Looked like I f***ed up a question that only has one reasonable answer

PS: Tiswas not Tiswaz ended in April 1982 and Saturday Superstore (ie: the replacement for Swap Shop) started in Sept 1982.

And just to add to your humiliation a pedant writes:

It was actually 'Tiswas' (with an 's'). It was supposedly an acronym for 'This Is Saturday Watch And Smile'

You're welcome!

I would like to formally apologise for the absolute mess I have made of this thread.

Custard pie in the face for me.

I'll stick my neck out here and say that Tiswas was overrated. Just a bit too self-consciously "wacky" for my tastes. Yes, Sally James ... but also Lenny Henry, Bob Carolgees and Chris Tarrant.

I suspect a lot more people say they watched and preferred it than actually did, partly because Edmonds went on to be such an odious sort of bloke.

TISWAS all the way. Swap Shop was all soppy bollox well-meaning BBC Blue Peter type tosh, whereas TISWAS was anarchic ultra-violent slapstick. Bob Carolgees And Spit The Dog! The Phantom Flan Flinger! Pulling kids up by their ears! Chris Tarrant and Sally James were just perfick. Even Lenny Henry was moderately funny. Oh, and I always remember that the only band they ever got in to interview who failed to read the room were The Clash
