A well known jockey once told me never bet on Folkestone, Salisbury day meetings and Windsor night meetings because that is where the jockeys earn their money with winners.

He is now retired so it my have changed.

That backs us up then, Charlie has been in 'interesting' form, its new owner is a bookie in Guernsey and likes a bet (at a good price) and he's got the trainers son riding him. It looks like a day to bet him. I will be.

SPOTLIGHT VERDICT: WESTERN ROOTS (nap) should be suited by this track and he can hold the pack at bay. Coral Shores can chase him home.[EMW]

Show Notes Form RPR Topspeed BHA Trends Spotlights Postdata

Bridgewater BoysFantastic strike-rate over the years and won only start here but all wins in the last year come in sellers or AW handicaps and looks high enough in weights back on turf. Mystic StormWent close over slightly further here a year ago and weighted to go close again but left Lady Herries for 18,000gns after and back from ten months off here; no record fresh so far and plenty to prove.

Penang CintaBeen flat for a while but refitted cheekpieces seemed to help at Salisbury latest and has a squeak here if they work again. Laish Ya HajarNot at best at Brighton latest (not first time he´s run moderately going downhill) and unfortunate to bump into progressive type the time before but quite convincing in similar Warwick event previously and shouldn´t be far away.

Western RootsDone very well for new yard and this rider, on turf and sand, and well drawn for one who likes to get his head in front; this is slightly stronger than when winning at Salisbury latest but high on list. Eureka MomentNo improvement for handicaps the last twice at about this trip and not yet convinced she´s well handicapped (just 3lb lower than on handicap debut over a month ago).

King SupremeRunning well in blinkers lately, keeping on stoutly over further the last twice; not sure the drop in trip on easier track will see improvement now he´s gone up again in the weights. Latin ScholarVersatile handicapper, another creditable effort in C&D handicap two starts ago, but disappointing latest and probably weighted to his best even if returning to form.

Zabeel HouseRarely runs on turf these days and most recent efforts have been modest; effect of cheekpieces seems to have worn off on the AW and enough to find. Coral ShoresBeen in good form back on turf lately, beat big field in amateur riders event at Pontefract latest; has Western Roots to aim at from high draw and easy to make case.

Out Of This WayBeaten long way back from lengthy absence for new yard latest and can only watch. EverymanIn good form on slow ground but not yet achieved much on quicker surfaces and plenty to prove under these conditions.

Muffett´s DreamFinding it tough in handicaps for new yard and no easier here from out of the weights. Ray DiamondBest form at shorter on the AW and hard to fancy over new trip in cheekpieces after modest turf efforts the last twice.
