I think we might be underestimating just how much a player's form can be affected by being at a badly run club. Look at Estupinan, who couldn't get a game at Watford*; Welbeck, who looked clapped out at the same club; or at any of our departing stars who've had a tough time at their new, badly run clubs. There are some exceptions, i.e. players who do well despite their club being a shitshow, but it seems to me that a player's form can be absolutely sunk by turbulent business leadership at a club. A problem we, thankfully, don't have nowadays.

I've got my doubts about most Brighton rumours this summer, as there's obviously a bit of "link him to Brighton, everyone will think he's a hidden gem" going on among agents. But I'm not sure it's wise to rule anyone out based on their performances at badly run clubs. I've got faith in the club's data operation - IF we are interested in Castagne, I'm sure the club has the data to back it up.
