I am convinced that if Adams were still manager we would NOT have lost 4 out of the last 5.

We should have either sacked him earlier, and with a decent replacement lined up, or not at all.

The board has f***ed up royally.

Here, here.

Completely agree. To sack him with no quality replacement lined up ahead of crucial games against relegation rivals was plain stupidity. Knight has lost the plot.

To sack Wilkins without a quality replacement wasn't that clever either.

He probably should have been sacked before Christmas but I'm sure many still believed he'd turn it around then. I certainly did.

Indeed, but don't tell Knight, he still thinks he did the right thing!

Do you ever have anything to say that isn't an attack on Dick Knight?

Should never have sacked Wilkins.

Fairplay to DK for all he's done for the club, but he has really, really f***ed up the last few seasons.

The players aren't completely blameless though. If more than 2 or 3 players gave a shit about the club, they'd actually be fighting and not just accepting relegation.

And Talking of DK F@!$ing things up Stockport County's form has been terrible since all the Gannon business, looks like they'll miss out on the play offs now.

Given our form all season, I don't believe anyone can say that with confidence.

Agreed, and we may also have lost 4 out of 5 with McGhee or Wilkins as manager too.

Are you saying that DK is responsible for County's shit form? He does have incredible powers doesn't he.

Yes lots. And oddly enough I am not actually anti Knight in the way some may be. I just think he has run his course and should step up to life president with some dignity. he can still walk out at Falmer, and get the glory he deserves, but he is no longer the right man to be seen as the leader of our club. He is quite clearly at odds with the Blooms over issues that lead to confused management with decisions being delayed or not followed through. It needs sorting out and my view is that he should take a step back, they should appoint a proper chief exec, like Martin Perry was, to run the club.

Now I can understand why he went - but the timing was ridiculous ...

... I understand that it was bloom who wanted to get rid of adams - but the delay was down to Knight. Ultimately it is the board that has cost us this year - not the players.:nono:
The version of the story that I heard was that Tony Bloom went to Luton, was appalled at what he saw, and the axe fell. If we'd have won the penalty shoot-out, Adams would no doubt have survived.

It's all about how the cards fall.

What do you mean by 'run the club'?

Perry is the only paid director, Ken Brown is responsible for day to day activities, the only thing that DK does is appoint the manager and negotiate players contracts, although some of the internet spastics we see on here also have him down for picking the team, scouting for players, and making the piss poor burgers at Withers.

So if he got over to games more often we would have got rid of Adams sooner...

Possibly. Or if he'd stayed at home for the Luton game, maybe things would have been different.

This is what happens when football clubs become the playthings of people with money. But, on the other hand ... without the money, where would we be?

Isn't that what we've always been though? We've never been a viable business at Withdean, we've relied on shareholders keeping us afloat.

I suppose ideally the main benefactor would be more hands on, and maybe their wouldn't seem to be so much confusion, and even power struggle.

You're right of course. With Adams still at the helm there was a good chance we would have lost 5 out of 5.

Can I just remind everyone that he was in fact not sacked. Thank you.

I agree. My understanding was that it was not Knight's intention to part company with Adams when they had that meeting the Friday before the Millwall game. However, what does seem clear is that Knight could not give Adams the backing of the rest of the board suggesting he only had a few games left before Knight would succumb to the other board members pressure and obviously Adams didn't like this. They then had to agree to the mutual consent outcome. It is far from ideal but equally was not in anyones plans.

You should move into the digital age, your record seems to have been stuck for about 20 years now or at least it seems that way!
