What drives him is power
When Mayor of London, his goal was best served by backing remain. When seeking to become PM, he took a calculated risk on his new wider consitutency backing leave. It worked.
The personal freedom stuff. I doubt he gives a monkeys what the plebs do. But he has to keep the 1922 committee onside, so he goes on about it
Not forgetting the guff about him laying down his life in order to prevent a third runway at Heathrow. He's devoid of principles, and will do anything that's deemed popular, like his mate across the pond.
He's had a dreadful pandemic, although deserves some praise for focusing on vaccines early on (about the only thing he/they did focus on early on) but the key praise should be going to the scientific community for developing the vaccines and accelerating their roll-out, and the NHS for facilitating and implementing its delivery.
