I have 2 pairs.

A Nike pair that I would wear with white trainers and no socks for playing football on the beach, that kind of stuff. They are a bit gay, now I think about it.

And a Ted Baker pair that are smarter, to be worn to the pub, etc. These ones are much less gay.

Just to be on the safe side, I'll accessorise them with my wife and two kids.

Short longs are very hard to wear properly, depends on the footware and your overall dress sense, they can often end up looking a little German beer swilling gay man though.... Worn well they can be good....

They look ok on my 12 year old son and maybe fit yoofs (fit as in healthy not that I fancy them ok) but not sure they would be so becoming on a 42 year old with white hair and a beer belly.

It'll be rolled up trousers and a knotted hanky for my trip to spain.

Did I tell you about my holiday arrangements?

Now I can remember them being a female fashion statement in the early 80's, think they were called pedal-pushers back then, next thing blokes will be wearing skirts.

So mid life crisis and unsure of sexuality is what they stand for?

It's will mean either statements applies. Possibly both, but not necessarily, I guess that depends on the extremity of your midlife crisis.
