To be honest a lot of the comments posted by people regarding Jade Goody were irresponsible and cruel. I don think such a fuss should have been made in the first place, the time could have been better spent making a donation to a cancer trust dear i say.

Spot on. I can't believe some of the rubbish being posted in this thread, I am yet to see an unfair or over zealous moderating decision on this board and I can't believe the level of anger and hostility being posted in this thread. Absolutely unbelievable.

As it happens, the default settings for postings by moderators allow us to post messages on locked threads, without even noticing that they are locked. It's an easy mistake to make.
I'm sure none of us "abuse our powers" and spend our time unlocking and re-locking threads purely for the power-trip of adding to a closed debate. If that appears to have happened in the instance that is being discussed, the most logical explanation is that the mod in question hadn't noticed that the thread had been locked.

The thread was 100% locked and e77 posted 3 or 4 slightly provacative replies to differnt users. Pretty poor if he didn't see it was locked.

For the record, yes I did lock the 'e77 thread', and did so before he posted on it. But as has already been pointed out - mods are able to post to closed threads and do not receive any "are you sure you want to do that?" type warning. I've made the mistake several times myself unwittingly.
e77 volunteered to mod the board despite me explaining that it is largely a thankless task - damned if you do, damned if you don't. There's probably a good analogy to be made with football refereeing actually, but I can't be arsed right now.
I've seen nothing to indicate that e77 has stuffed up at all, but we do all make mistakes as along as any mod gets it right more often than they get it wrong then I'll be happy for them to continue.

Two people were banned for using the expressions 'cancer pig' and 'cancer cow'. Not too high of a moral ground to get on, to be honest.
