Rather than go for one of the obvious tracks, I was going to post Satisfied from the 3121 album - a really down and dirty, sexy blues number. However, there doesn't appear to be a version of this available on YouTube these days.

Little Red Corvette from the very first time I heard it, around 1982. Was pretty obsessed by the whole Purple Rain thing too, and really enjoyed Under a Cherry Moon too. Had the pleasure to see him play live a couple of times, quite superb, and when he played Purple Rain I don't think I've ever seen a house brought down quite so well..

Jesus there are so many this is impossible but I would suggest Gett Off, Elephants and Flowers or Graffiti Bridge.

I wonder if the myth of the Paisley Park vault is really true and we will see a huge amount of Prince music released over the next decade or two

1999. Pure Joy. And at the time I was a shoegaze miserablist (still am in many ways). Prince, what a star

The Dirty Mind album - loved it when it came out, love it now - raw, dirty, paired down funk.

So many to choose from. Controversy, Purple Rain and Play in the Sunshine are some of my favorites

Raspberry Beret for me too

One of my favourite opening lines from any song

I was working part time in a five-and-dime
My boss was Mr. McGee
He told me several times that he didn't like my kind
'Cause I was a bit too leisurely

Seems that I was busy doing something close to nothing
But different than the day before
