Not true, I have never worn a straight jacket..........yet.
To me Hughton was wrong, each to their own.
Potters management excites me, let's not forget GP lost his father in the middle of his 1st premier league season, the man has done good.
All I'd say is that one poster caused a tremendous amount of consternation. A tremendous amount. But it isn't good form to start a thread about another poster so this one is sailing a bit close to the cold and relentless wind of misjudgement blowing out of the bottom of someone whose head, ironically, got wedged in that very same bottom back in November.
However.....one little thread to say 'stick that up your bollocks' is probably understandable.
And looking at the table, the three losses were sort of understandable.

In the context of where we were pre-lockdown - absolutely. Sarcasm aside, if that sort of form was replicated over the length of a full season (38 games) it would mean we would accumulate 48-50 points. Not earth shattering but definitely progress doncha think?

Put a fiver on us to go down at some point earlier this year. Football would be very boring without gloating and we were dire before the restart. In 13 matches from December 21 to June, the only teams we took the lead against were Bournemouth at home and Villa at home (when we let it slip late on.) We were hopelessly beaten at Bournemouth and 3-1 down at West Ham. Watford were much more resurgent at that stage and unlucky not to win at ours.
Hughton wasn't changing anything in games while we were getting worse and worse. It would have been the right change even if we'd gone down. It was fair to point out that the change was a risk but the people who deserve stick about it are journalists and pundits who hadn't done their research and, possibly, fans who, you can only assume, hadn't seen us play in almost exactly the same way for at least half a season of dodgy results.

Thing is so many were not just a little bit worried, they were aggressively anti GP, they were near as certain that we were going to be relegated, they KNEW how we should be playing and they KNEW the consequences if their sage advice was not taken. If some of them showed up and said "heck how wrong was I" they would get nothing but kudos from me, but the silence from these doomsayers (I am not talking about those worried that we MIGHT get relegated) is deafening. Grow a pair and acknowledge you got it wrong.

Posters like that went after everybody from Barber-out down.
They were pretty nasty and incredibly unsupportive.

On the one hand they are just t'internet trolls best ignored, it's not like they are ever going to change, Spence was 'at it' just last week, the guys an idiot.
But on the other, if you're going to write this shite, you better be read to have it then rammed down your throat - which I know is all part of the 'game'.

We all know who the few who this thread is aimed at are, and it isn't those who had a slight worry.
But it still comes back to the same thing - not enjoying our win and success for the win and success itself, but because it gives them the chance to say 'told you so'. In the same way the moaners are accused of liking it when we lose because they get to moan, some people seem to only like it when we win so they can brag about being right, not for the win itself.

I'll have a tiny bit to go but not because I doubted the team. I was against the restart and thought our run of home games without a crowd would be our undoing. Enjoyed it more than I thought and delighted to be wrong but it was all still a bit forced. Some teams were 10 miles out to sea rather than on the beach making the whole thing artificial. But the attitude and ethos of our team, especially at the start and end was outstanding.
We all had worries, t'is the nature of the beast when you support t'Albion!
Of course there's the added wrinkle with Spence, that being a couple of months ago:-
"I've got Corona real bad, I can't breathe, I'm calling an ambulance" 'please support me in my hour of needed'.

A pedant writes (as Triggaaar's currently absent): there's no gristle in humble pie - it's made from internal organs (heart, liver, kidney etc).
But I do find this a strange thread as there have hardly been any prophets of doom on this site. I thought it was going to be about the various commentators, journalists and pundits who relegated us before a ball had been kicked.
