I've always liked the cut of his jib...

Not sure we need him at the moment, but a player I'd like to see in the stripes one day

eh? what does that actually mean?

It's derived from a nautical term referring to the arrangement/layout of the jib/s, which is a type of sail. You could roughly tell the nationality of the crew (and therefore whether or not they were friendly) from how they set up their jib/s - which you could tell from a distance.

I tend to use it where I don't know a huge amount of detail about someone, but I get the general sense that I am positive about them without being able to put my finger on exactly why.

According to SSN training with Everton and they are assessing him over next few weeks, I assume with a view to sign.

Great, consise explanation Sir!

On the OP I'm assuming he was either assessed not fit / too much of a risk, or was too expensive. Think I'd rather have played it safe with likes of Crofts and Hammond who are far too good for this division anyway than risk the mighty Hammer...... how ridiculous when you think back 2-3 years and we can say things like that

I was told that the Albion set up a medical for him in Germany right at the start of the season, and he didn't turn up. That's what ended our interest in him.

The People reporting:

Brighton are ready to sign Thomas Hitzlesperger on a free transfer - if Everton decide against offering the former Germany midfielder a deal.
