For those going to BTM- another option is to stay in the station and get a train to Montpelier. it's 2 quid return, takes just over 5 minutes. The station is at the bottom of Gloucester Road, so a decent walking distance with plenty of pubs/eateries on the way.
Trains are:
12:03
12:34
13:16
14:03

Where 'decent' means 'f***ing long'.

Gotta meet people at btm, so not sure which way to go from then.

Options:
get bradley stoke(i think) bus from city centre to ground
get another train to parkway/filton/montpelier and bus/walk from there to ground.

Any recommendations???

If there are a few of you share a taxi......its about £7.

as i'm meeting a friend in clifton down beforehand I'll be walking from Montpelier...google maps reckons only about half an hour, which imo is not an awful distance to walk!

Train from BTM that goes to Montpelier will also go on to Clifton Down station, only 2 stops on. If you don't want to get a taxi from BTM then walk into city centre (about 5-10 mins) and find the bus stops near the Bristol Hippodrome and catch any bus starting with a 7 and it will go up the Glos Road.

Mostly right re: buses. The 70 to UWE doesn't go up Gloucester Road, but heads up towards Ashley Down. It is the most frequent bus though. Get off at the stop after Muller Road bus depot and you're there.

For a quick exit back to Brighton, try Muller Road Jct 2 off the M32 anytime after the Bus Station...

Deffo not. Temple Meads is on the complete opposite side of the city. Get the train to Bristol Parkway and there's a bus from the station there that runs every 20 mins or so I think towards the ground.

The 73 bus and ask for Filton Avenue Mem Ground, I guess you'll now when you are

BTM: Others have let you know! i.e. Severn Beach Train to Montpelier and then with the 6 year old in mind loads of buses on Gloucester Road, the ones going right when you arrive at the busy road from the station's access road!, walk about 250 yerds and the stops are by a Sainsbury's local.

Edit: Looks like my train stops at Filton Abbey Wood station (I'm on the Newport to Temple Meads train) which looks closest to the mem, so I think we'll hop off there.[/QUOTE]

Its a bit long than 15-20 minutes, I would say 30mins

When you get off at the station, you have two fairly long walking options to buses:

1) On your Platform 1 turn right into the MOD place and head for AbbeyWood Retail park, head towards the MAcDonalds and you'll see on the ring road a bus top your side of the road, 73 and 70 best bets.

2) Go over the footbridge to far side of station walk down to the car park, cut through a hedged walkway on your left through to a quiet road, just head straight on to the busy road, turn left and the bus stop is about 5 minutes left.

Do not use the bus stop outside the station as it goes nowehere useful.

Yes it is a f*** up but welcome to Bristol's transportation plans!
