The great thing about being born when we did (as I too harken from the days of the Zx81 and the Atari VCS) is that we can actually afford to buy these consoles and games. A bonus of course is that we've also seen some halcyon years of Computer gaming in our time - Elite? Pyjamarama? Tau Ceti? Who needed O Levels anyway?

:dunce:

god yeah thats true, Elite was amazing, but the game that changed my life has to be Doom, watching games evolve around that one game since has been incredible and we certainly have lived life through a new era in humans...the era of Human Gaming :jester:

I was working as an IT Support spod at Oxford Uni when Doom came out. I remember downloading the shareware version from some ftp site (this was before the days of yer internet) and installing it on one of the lab's PCs - stuck a pair of headphones on and got goose-pimples the moment I first hear a monsterous groan. This was the first game I'd heard in proper stereo! Awesome (as they say in the states)! Up until that point Wolfenstein 3D had been the height of gaming for me, and I was just blown away that you could actually go up-stairs in Doom!

:D
