In all the years I've been watching football, I don't think I've ever seen such a graceful player as Henry. And that effort today was as good a goal as I've seen in many a year. He has such a casual brilliance - just pure box office. Its players like him that make me realise why I love football so much. I don't think in any other sport can you see such a sublime moment of utter technical brilliance, when from nothing, he can arrow a ball into the top corner of the net from 25 yards with just a nonchalent brush of his foot. It had me out of my armchair shouting "F*CKING HELL !" and there's not many things make me do that, except when the missus spills my tinnie on the way back from the kitchen.

The fact that he put it past the England keeper cannot go un-noticed either. Not so sure if I',m looking forward to Euro 2004 now...

Since the premiership began I have loved watching Shearer, Owen etc but I agree I have not seen any player matcn the pace and technical ability of Mr va Va Voom. class.

Technically he is brilliant and very skillful.

On a par with the other great Frenchman Eric Cantona - how come France produce such great players ?

He is so good I could weep.
That little back-flick he did to Pires on the wing (who wasted his genius by choosing to bloody dive) was sheer footballing poetry. Nobody has a right to be that talented. Just how does someone get to be so good at something ? Its a God-given art, and I feel honoured to watch the fella. Its football on another level, from a different planet. He is so good, it's almost obscene.

I'm getting a Thierry Henry poster for the bedroom. And I don't care what this missus says.

Probably the same way we have nicked so many Indians, South Africans and Zimbabweans to play cricket for England

Quite probable as Zidane isn't technically French however Kanute plays for Mali as he could get in the French side.

Henry is a Class.

I reckon he'd walk straight into the Albion side (seriously!)

Other than perhaps Zidane, Henry is the greatest player I have had the fortune to watch. He is certainly the most exciting player I have ever seen.

Greatest player I have ever seen but not live was Platini - would have been Maradonna but for a certain incident

You cannot grasp how fast he really is until you have seen him, and trust me he is very fast. Blinding skill at the same time and he plays the offside trap very well. Qaultiy player who everyone on the opposition fears the most :clap2:

Zinedine Zidane is the son of of Algerian immigrants. He was born in France. He is French. He plays for France.

If you have a problem with that then I assume you have a problem with Campbell, Cole etc playing for England?

Actually, don't answer that NMH.

I didn't actually mention Zidane, nor was he mentioned in this thread until after I had posted.

Why would I have any problem with Campbell or Cole etc playing for England then 'Wozza' ? If you are intimating what I think you are, you are on the wrong f***ing track. Totally.

Dodgy argument NMH. We all knew who you meant by Algerians playing for France, as there's only person it could possibly be. It's a bit like saying the "President of the USA is a twat" and then defending yourself by saying that you didn't say George Bush is a twat.

I'd stop digging if I were you.

He's better than Cantona by a long way in my opinion. Cantona played when the Permiership wasn't as strong, and he never did anything in Europe - look what Henry did to Inter Milan. He's a genius
