there's just something about away games

just wondering if others feel the same . i had been going to the albion for a while before someone took me to an away game . and my feeling is still the same today , the amex is great but it is still nothing compared to a good away day . i first 'fell in love' with brighton when i traveled away.
i find it hard to describe , you just cant beat going away with the albion .

The difference for me is if a home game might do something later so rarely drink, away game is devoted to the whole time with travel so drinkies etc and more of a laugh.

i completely agree, even now at the AMEX i will sacrifice a home game to go to an away game

I love away games. I get excited for home games but i positively buzz when it comes to away days.
Nothing like turning up in our thousands at some other town, A few drinks & then sing your heart out while we do the business on the pitch.

Away games are what made me fall in-love with the Albion. I think it was a relief just getting away from Withdean and turning up in alien towns who have stadia designed for football. Also being in an alien town gives me a tremendous sense of pride of your club and of your hometown.

Plus the stares you get, the fact opposition fans are friendly (most of the time) and want to chat with you. Good times!

even moreso in previous years when the Albion was struggling to survive.

Turning up at places like Scunthorpe, Chester (on a Friday night), Torquay, Plymouth, Exeter (Tuesday), Hartlepool, Darlo, Carlisle, Hull (Friday), then spotting a few familiar faces around the ground and then going into the away end wondering where the 100's of Albion fans have appeared from still makes me believe we have the best club in the world.

Definately better experience away from home.

One trip springs to mind is Plymouth, travelling home I got a flat tyre and had to change it in pitch black with a mini maglite torch and did we care? Did we fook, we won the league that day and went back to Withdean to see the team get off the coach

Never appealed to me home games, not since thye days of the goldstone, when you could take yer beer in the northstand, knock coppers hats off, throw coins at em etc, and rival fans used to sneak in amongst the albion elite, remember a west ham fan once, brighton scored and he put his arms up to clap, only to reveal a hammers tattoo.. a followed, poor kiddy, he wouldnt do that again in a hurry. Bring the terraces back anyday, as for the w...dean, i went 3 times, dreadful place, seen more life in the queens handbag. Away days are all about getting pissed up on the train, having a crack, and a good sing song:guitar:

west ham fan i was on about was a west ham fan, as we were playing em, think he was trying to be a hero

As the typical nervous type I love away games.Good for a look around the places where the poor home supporters have to live,and,good as we currently are,most home teams seem to have an advantage though lord knows why.Anyway,the chances of an away win are a bit less than at home,so I relax - though sadly sometimes only with 8 pints of Worthington E or its local equivalent which the locals quaff down with relish whilst Harveys afficionados hold noses and gulp down - and if we win ,brilliant,if we draw,OK,and if we lose,well,we've had a day out,a sing song.A good old time.

At home you're expected to win,so when you don't it's glumness and grrr.The Harveys remains great,the company you're in remains great,but the whole weekend lies in ruins at your feet,thanks to some useless ref and his sidekicks from the school for the unsighted.

I love the Amex,but on balance I think I love the awaydays more.
