I know, from previous threads, that there have been some people struggling in the pandemic. I was one of them, just about keeping afloat in these past few months. I had been applying for jobs, but as I'm 64, I wasn't that hopeful.

However, I got lucky: I'm starting a new job in a couple of weeks, ending a period of great uncertainty.

So, for all of you still struggling, there's always a chance that something comes up. Many businesses seem to be hiring again so let's hope that all of you get lucky.

I was interviewed over Zoom so my bottom half could have been naked for all they knew. I have a row of cricket balls on the shelf behind me - they caused some discussion. The Dutch HR manager was particularly perplexed

After the financial crisis when I was having a miserable time trying and failing to get countless jobs I always used to keep in mind that "you only need 1 application to be successful".
