Their goal

I was in the seats at the end they scored and right at the front and seem to be the only one who saw the wicked deflection off either Mayo or Harding that sent the ball in. No way that Roberts could be blamed for it as the deflection put some very strange spin on it.

Hving said that, I think I had the worst view I've ever had at a football match. Shocking ground.

Explain this goal.

All I have heard was it was a fluke.

Think Ronaldinho vs Seaman, Japan 2002.

And then imagine a completely different goal! Their guy was about 10 yards out from the right wing corner flag, being harried by both Mayo and Harding. He tried to cross and it took a slight but wicked flick off a defenders foot and sailed over Roberts head into the far top corner. Roberts was positioned for the cross and was therefore not to blame.

That's what I remember but as I say - the worst view I've had at a football match.

I was at the other end so he could have been anywhere in our half from what I could see!

They said it was a fluke on the radio too. Personally I think this Roberts baiting is getting pretty tiresome, he is a pretty good keeper. I would like FDM to stay at the club because we need two keepers we can rely on and not have to put in a subs standard packham, royce, petterson type player when one is injured. But I would not like him to return by getting rid of Roberts.

Well said, this sums it up perfectly. Roberts = scapegoat. It would be good to have both keepers, I agree, but can we afford it? Flitney looks a good keeper but somewhat inexperienced.

This is exactly what I saw. No way was that goal Roberts' fault.
Very disappointed by the guy in the seats that immediatly shouted that Roberts was a twat when the ball hit the net - This kind of "support" we could do without.

I was that end as well and right in line with the shot as it came in,it just dipped at the last minute, nothing Ben Roberts could do about it.
Can anyone think of another save he had to make during the game?

One more point,I had some stumpy tosser sitting in front of me who, from the first minute to the last minute was slagging off Henderson,if I hadnt had 3 kids with me,I would of told him to F:censored: K Off and sit with the home fans, whats the point of these people coming to theses games and slagging players off,we are meant to get behind them ,not batter there self confidence.
Hopefully I will see the little tosser on Tuesday and have a polite word in his ear!!

Just seen it for the first time... Looked like a fluke to me but Roberts positioning looked poor... 50/50

He was only out of position because it took a deflection if it had not he would have been in perfect position to collect the cross!

Not sure about that Dunky... When a bloke looks like he's about to cross a goalkeeper should never be at his front post... :nono:

"It was a freak way for the silver-booted Andrews to score his first home goal and Roberts could not be held accountable for such an unexpected effort."

"Andrews admitted his third goal of the season was a fluke. "

"To be fair I was just trying to put it into the box," he said. "I got a bit of a strike on it, but I didn't expect it to go in.

"I couldn't see it from where I was, but the boys said it flew in. I spoke to our goalie Simon Brown and he said it was going so fast that the keeper (Roberts) didn't have any time to set himself."
